The 2000 that worked, then didn't, then did, then didn't to finally restored!
What a blinking nightmare this 2000 has been!
I purchased her late last year and planned to just clean her up to my usual OCD standard. Yet turned out to need some repairs but for the better.
At first she worked fine (I never tested the RGB video out - more on that later in the thread) apart from a drive that failed to read disks. I started by removing/cleaning all chips and then horror! The 2000 didn't boot up or anything after I switched her on for a second time :wooha:
Faulty Agnus socket was to blame - one of the pins failed to reseat itself back and the pin broke when I tried to manually set it back! Found that the pin had corroded so badly which had led to its untimely demise.
The Bat signal was lit and d0pefish responded to the distress signal :bowdown:
I also had the CPU socket replaced as this was showing signs of corrosion on the socket connectors.
Here are some pics of his awesome work;

As I only sent the board to d0pefish he couldn't test his work out due to not having a PSU available. So he sent her back to me for testing :)
Unfortunetly this was not an end to the problems as there was no video output on the RGB port :o The composh1te video worked ok but that was no good.
A quick glance at the back of the board revealed the issue - a broken/nuked trace leading to pin 23 of the RGB video port (+5v);
I repaired this myself at work this morning with a bridge - glued in place and also coated the bare broken track with nail varnish;

The disk drive that was failing to read now works fine as I spent most of the time cleaning out the drives (no pics, it was a boring job but they were full of gunk!)
Few extra bits to sort now, namely the GVP HC+8 Series II this originally came with and an A2320 that arrived today. I'll sort these later in the week as I'm just relieved she is working again.... literally just switched her on 10 mins ago!

For the love of god, why do we do this? :D
