SOLD: External Scandoubler for a1200's
As some of you may be aware I have just made a rather large purchase on this very site.
In order to stop my wife removing my body parts I promised to at least re-coup some of the cash through selling off a few bits and pieces I have spare.
First up therefore is this rather surprisingly usable External Scandoubler for an a1200.
I bought this a while ago from here just to see if it would work and it does, quite nicely for the price.
It includes instructions and an external power supply but I must stress this is for an a1200 ONLY. It also only Scandoubles and does not flicker fix.
It was designed for use originally on a500s, but was converted to work with a a1200. It has internal jumper settings allowing you to switch between PAL and NTSC.
The original thread HERE explains exactly what it does.
TBH, it works Ok for games, even AGA ones. We played around with it for quite a while and were impressed by the output all things considered. I eventually got an Indivision and kept this handy as a spare should anything happen but I can honestly say I haven't needed to get it out of it's box.
It also looks Ok when using Workbench, although any interlaced modes are still quite eye-watering, and you may have to tweak the gain slightly to get a good colour match.
All that said, however, If you're looking for a cheap scandoubler, or even just a spare for backup purposes, this could be your chap. It does a good enough job to be usable on a day to day basis and will save you a few quid if you're off down the VGA monitor route.
I'm looking for £* plus £3 post & packing for the UK. Please contact me if you are from abroad for a shipping quote.

Re: FS: External Scandoubler for a1200's
Hi, received this today. Sorry I can't get this to work for me on an A1200 PAL with a TFT monitor. At first I got a partial image on the screen, albeit the wrong colour. Now I don't even get that, just raster garbage.

I thought it might be the PAL/NTSC jumper but I have checked that.

I have spent a few hours testing this with different screen modes and monitors, but don't think I'll get it working.
@r0jaws - shall I send it back?
@jimbob005 - if it is okay with r0jaws, and the ops, would you like me to send it on to you, you might have better luck?
Re: FS: External Scandoubler for a1200's
I'm sorry you're having no luck with it. Did you try adjusting the gain?
As I remember it was a small adjustable screw near the end. If that doesn't work, by all means send it back to me, and I'll sort out a refund.
Re: FS: External Scandoubler for a1200's
Some monitors will not work on 50Hz refresh rate (PAL output), so test the unit with another monitor, preferably a CRT one.
Re: FS: External Scandoubler for a1200's
Thanks rkauer and r0jaws, I found a monitor that can handle the frequency, and adjusted the gain, and it is now working as described.

I will still try to get hold of a CRT, but am happy with this now.
Re: FS: External Scandoubler for a1200's
I'm glad you got it sorted. :D It's never a nice feeling to get something, and you can't get it to work!
As long as you're happy chap, the Mods can close the thread.
