PAL N64 RGB mod
Does anyone have information on the N64 PAL RGB mod and how to perform it?
I want to pass my N64 through my Sync Strike and GBS8220 but obviously that needs an RGB signal, and as I only have PAL N64's they don't output RGB at standard, just the inferior CVBS composite which won't work.
Also, where can I guarantee to get a proper RGB Nintendo cable from? Any eBay BIN sales you can recommend that you have purchased and know to work?

AFAIK you cant mod a PAL N64 to RGB:-( only NTSC ones Im afraid

You can only easily rgb mod a early French n64 (for pal). They have the model number with FRA in it.
You can rgb mod other consoles if you build a replacement DAC.
Cable you would buy a gc one and modify it.

Was just reading some more online about it and really annoying. Why Nintendo removed S-Video and RGB from the PAL N64 is mad, especially when the SNES can output lovely RGB.
Hmm... what to do. I want to setup all my consoles to display through a LCD monitor. The monitor has DVI, VGA and HDMI inputs. At the moment I'm feeding the signal through a Scart to HDMI converter which works, and even has audio breakout to feed the sound into my AV AMP. However the image isn't brilliant. So my next thought was to feed it in through the Sync Strike and GBS8220, but with no RGB that won't work. Maybe a Composite to VGA converter would be better for a PAL N64? That would actually then still work with an SLG3000 for some nice scanlines. Hmm.. ideas.

Svideo is still present on the Pal N64.
And just RGB mod it, its not that hard.

RGB mod looks more complicated than I could do. Does it actually work with a PAL N64 then? Any volunteers who could do this for me?
I read that PAL N64's are missing both Svideo and RGB and only NTSC US N64's have Svideo. Isn't that correct? I've seen some N64 Svideo cables for sale, but I thought they just convert the composite out from the N64 into an Svideo signal, which would basically still be composite.

Pal N64 has svideo. But it's missing some parts in the console. If you add these into the cable it works fine.
Console goods sells cables that work as is or you can do it yourself (2 caps, 2 resistors)
I just sold a rgb pal n64 earlier this morning!
I could do the mod, but would need to price up parts (cpld etc)

I happen to have a spare rgb-dac H, if you need it drop me a line...
I also have a french rgb modded system, the difference in quality is next to zero FYI (I know you have a connectivity problem and not a quality one but still you are not missing much)

I dont think this is about quality though, its about getting it to work with the GBS8220 and therefore VGA.
