All to HDMI
I've been researching video upscaler. It started off with the intention to upscale Amiga graphics to work on a VGA monitor, and for that the GBS8220 has been very useful. However it has now led me to explore more as I need to upscale more than just RGB.
In my travels I've come across a Chinese made device called ALL TO HDMI. You can find it easily on eBay. It accepts inputs from everything you could think of, including composite, s-video, component, RGB scart, HDMI, VGA, etc, and it upscales it to either 720p or 1080p via HDMI.
Looks a very interesting device, and would be perfect for connecting all retro consoles to an HDTV or HDMI enabled monitor.
Has anyone tried one of these All to HDMI devices? It is tempting. Although for only a bit more I could get an XRGB.

Get the xrgb

I have no experience with that particular one, but nothing will beat the scaler in something like the dvdo edge or the xrgb. You also need to consider deinterlacing, colour conversion, and so on - it's not just about the scaling:)
Take a look here for a lot of coverage (also covers other scalers for retro gaming on an hd tv)

If you want the absolute best, you need a dvdo edge AND an xrgb :)

I have been looking into getting a XRGB and was give some advise lately before buying one which was Micomsoft are dealing with updating their firmware for the xrgb-mini, to allow as good and hopefully surpassing the XRGB PAL handling. In reality the xrgb-mini has to be the way to go. And I should hold off for a few weeks/couple of months.

Maybe I could ask here. What would actually be a decent device to deinterlace high res laced resolution video signal coming from Indivision aga? I want to get rid of the interlace artifacts on cursor on desktop and balls on slamtilt :)

If you have the space (or even if you don't, like me) get a CRT TV for pennies whilst you can. Once you go back.... you won't go back (To Flatscreens)! I've not touched my VGA converter box since I got my Sony Trinitron 29" CRT, its perfect and not a single upscaler can beat it.
I suddenly realised I was putting far too much effort and money spending into making my old stuff look CRTish on my Flatscreens that I thought.... why not just buy back an old CRT?
I've got my monster 54KG Sony hiding under my retro table now and I told my wife "its only temporary for testing" about a month ago..... hee hee.
Stick to CRT for retrogaming and Flatscreens for modern gaming is my advice.

I to just picked up a 14" Sony Trinitron CRT and the picture is great :D I'm going to keep a look out for another Sony Trinitron CRT 21 to 24" ;) Our main TV is a Panasonic TX-32PD30 CRT which was top of the range when I bought it back in 2003, as its enclosed in its own cabinet you wouldn't even think it was a CRT but the picture is second to none :) I do have a full hd for the xbox 360 ;) come to think of it I have 7 TV's

Can you get game consoles to run on old standard CRT monitors if they don't have the specific input? eg. no Scart, like the old Commodore and Philips monitors.
