Collective Order: 2MB RAM for 68000 Amiga

Hello,

at the german a1k.org forum, we plan to release a second order of the 68k 2 MB Ram extension.

The Board would be place under the MC68000 CPU at the Amiga 500, 1000, 2000 or CDTV. The RAM is not autoconfigured, can be use with the addmem command. There is a jumper to change the adresse of the ram. You can stacked two of these cards in the CPU Socket to get 4 MB FastRAM!

Review of the Board was in the last Amiga Future.

A website with information is in work, link later.

Now, we need some orders, because we want to make 75 or more PCBs to get the price from the last order. A complete set (PCB, RAM chips an other needed parts) would be cost, if we get the 75 pcbs, around 22 Euro without shipping.

Is the price 22 Euros for a complete, built board?

Or just the parts and you have to build it yourself?

Perhaps interested, if all components are assembled.
Will this be compatible with the memory in the trapdoor?

The MC68000 CPU is not included, I suppose!

In reply to the comment about the soldering, as far as the soldering goes, there isn't anything there that a drop of flux and a clean soldering iron wouldn't improve, other than the spikes etc its fine.

I'm up for one. not that i can use more ram in my a500 but nice to have in case ;)

But some to know for you:

At the price from around 22 Euro is complete for pcb and parts, but without soldering. Its a DoItYourself project. For one or two, i can do this work for a little Euros extra.

The price of 22 Euro is ca. 3 month old. it ist possible +- 1-2 Euro!


At is also possible to buy only the pcb without the parts. exactly price i can told you later.

Can anyone explain in few words what advantage this board has in a A2000 Rev 6.2? So then I can confirm the pre-order because I am not sure about the useful of this card.:oops:

It will provide you 2MB of additional FastRAM. I would imagine it'll be of a similar performance to any FastRAM you might have added using a Zorro card. Be aware that the 8MB FastRAM limit still applies, so if you've got 8MB on your Zorro bus, this device won't help you.

I also imagine that this expansion would be ruled out if you have a CPU accelerator card in your A2000, but then if you have that, you should have enough FastRAM on that card anyway.

Then I withdrawn interest.

On mine I would prefer it to be assembled already also. Not that I am too lazy to do it because I think it would be fun to do. Just worried that I will probably mess it up :)

My soldering skills are pretty low, still getting the little balls or spikes when soldering. Tried looking for some tips to improve but not helping much yet. Tried with flux, without flux, heating part to be soldered on etc etc

But I do want to use this for the CDTV so if I can't get it assembled (will pay extra) then I will take it as parts to be assembled.

Shame this couldn't be combined with an CFIDE68k implementation?

Put me down for one though.

AmigaGTI you have the old Version of the manual on your site. I posted a newer Version (Rev02), with the changes to the GTI-Edition, on a1k.org - i can give you the original Word document too, maybe there is a way to translate it into english.

If say I had Tom's 8MB expansion and a 2MB A590 then I can't use this card as well?

Can someone explain the add mem/ram command. Do I have to do this everytime to use this or do it once and then it works all the time. (assumming the former).

Has to be done every boot, can put it in a startup sequence on a WB floppy or the best beat is to use a HDD of some sort.

Would be great for WHDload games.
