Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
You can make your own if you can acquire the parts. You'll need a 9 pin Port, a bit of IDE cable stripped down to 9 wires & an IDE IDC header. You can cut a 40 way down to 10 & hot glue the cap on once you have all the wires in correct orientation. You'll need to be able to solder to the back of the 9 Pin port?
See Zetr0's thread for the Diagram.

Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
Wow Kin! Amazing page!! I was missing that!!
Plenty of very good info!!
Guess i will have to tell my friend to solder it for me!!
I already have a 40 pin cable (taken from an old notebook) and its very easy to find a 9 pin port in my land so..guess it will be homemade after all!!
Thanks a lot for the info!!!!

Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
"Factory" style IDC connectors can be found (among other places) here:

Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
Another good place to find it ready to go is scavenging an old k6 pc, they have those COM: ports with the IDC header and 9pin connector.
Binned k6-2 motherboards have them, too.
Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
Is the Amiga port wired the same as a PC COM port? If so, I probably have a spare PC COM port you could have for the cost of a first-class stamp. :-)
Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
So, could anybode confirm that mouse port has same pinout than a PC COM port? If so, i have plenty of PC COM ports all over my flat...
But i need some advice here, as i dont want to ruin my "new" A1200 mobo!!!
Thanks!!
Sebastian
Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
I have a faulty A1200 motherboard here (The graphics output is blurry) so I shall test a PC COM port on it, in the interests of Science! and get back to you with the results.
Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
Why not check the references via schematics & compare? :coffee:

Re: WTB: A1200 mouse port
Simple way to check: using the Amiga DB9 pinout (link), just check if the pin #7 have +5V. If so, the mouse port is OK.
Don't plug any device into the port before this test, which will do nothing to the computer. After the positive check you can use and abuse the port.
