You risk the wrath of the apple cult
I will protect you from the apple-aholics well i will try.. or maybe not my wife loves her mypod
@Zetr0:
In the internal 8-bit interface, I saw that you had used the 40 pin IDE connector. Would it have been possible to use the 44 pin 2,5" IDE and the corresponding CF adapter so that the +5V had been provided from the Z80's pin 11 instead of having to provide it externally for the CF adapter?
An impulse purchase today - I saw this sitting outside a junk shop, languishing in the rain. Kind of takes "retro" to a new level!
No idea what I'm going to do with it yet, mind you, but gotta love that steampunk look!
those Apple Zombies wont like this either

This is my new HTC Desire S, with 1GHz CPU / 768MB RAM / GPU / 2GB onboard store and 8GB (soon to be 32GB) micro SDHC
Its truly an amazing bit of kit!
Yes you can use a connector (from 40 to 44pin) but you would need to supply power. This is quite easy to do for the +2AB/ and +3 as you can solder onto an existing header, the 48K requires a litte more work as does the 128k and 128k+2.
Now originally I was going to add a power rail from the Z80 socket, but I have to admit, with the age of these components and more specifically the age of the CPU I didn't want to push any more mA - I could only imagine the desaster of pulling 300mA+ from that port.... especially if some one was crazy enough to attempt to plumb up a 3.5" IDE disk drive.
So I decided against it.
(I have some how-to guides to come up on the bay over this weekend)
Now thats quite interesting!
Oooo I bet you could get an ITX PC in that as well as a Monitor where the paper rocker is... with black, gold and silver guildings this would be delicious - all you would need then is steampunk mouse and game-pad =D
Where to begin... I hit a small treasure today, no pictures yet, will take some after I finish unpacking/sorting/testing and generally having much fun!
Visited an (ex) Amiga collector who started liquidating his stuff, got out of there with a full car!
Too much stuff to list, but from memory:
- A4000
- A3000
- A500
- A1200
- 2 X FMV
- SX-1
- Various memory expansions & accelerators for A1200
- A500 memory expansions
- Tons of cables, PSUs, mice, etc etc...
- Spare parts for various Amiga models (case parts, ICs etc)
I feel drunk & I havent been drinking! :lol:
Oh, and I finally have an A3000!! never thought I'd find one locally :)
You lucky son of gun! Great haul! :) No price driving but I reckon it must've been a good deal?
@protek:
