As a general rule, G4's with Firewire 400 ports get to boot into OS9. It's the ones with FW 800 that don't. So this one is a yes.

Yep, one machine came with original Recovery disks (4) and it has OS9 and OS X together on them. For a guy that is new to Mac, the price of these are great compared to a G5 power mac or even an G4 i Mac or G4 Mac Mini. I am not sure why (could be the size and weight). They are sure easy to get into and upgrade though.
One thing I thought was kind of neat from a hardware point- the "Studio Displays" have NO power cord. They draw power right through the 1 cable connected to the Graphics card! (ADC). Therefore, this whole unit only needs 1 power cord for it, not 2 like a "Normal" PC.
The reason I got 2 was I first went to e-bay and found one from Toronto for a great price including shipping. I then wanted to find a display for it, but the cheapest I could find was from the US. I then looked locally on Kijji and found one with the display for the same price that I got the one from T.O. Ended up getting the 2 for well less than xxxx USD.
I got this tool kit for opening games consoles from Maplins today, £9.99

Yeah, the G3/G4 foldout door is just damn convenient; even more so than the pop-off lid of the Mac II machines. I do prefer the G5's easy-removal door with the board fixed in place, though; the fold-out door is a bit annoying as you might have to disconnect everything to open it, depending on how much cable slack you have. On the other hand, it's easier to work on since you don't have to reach inside the case except to swap disk drives. Would that PCs were this easy to get inside!
It is kind of neat, although the proprietary nature of the ADC connector is annoying for those of us without a Studio Display; luckily adapters for DVI are inexpensive, and video cards with DVI output can be had pretty easily too.Quote:

True, the fold-out is a neat thing. But swapping hard drives is a pain on the MDD models. They're vertically stacked, and require a screw removal. Plus, they're located deep at the bottom right corner, not so accessible if i may say...
I couldn't agree more.. :)Quote:

Nice one Buzz, horrible looking K/B but nice casework. :)
I scored this today in the bootsale, bit short on cash though so really need to find a box for that 600 that I need to quote for Spanish postage, sorry (I'll get right on it I promise)! I couldn't turn this down though really...

Better yet it even has it's original C= sticker under it so it's un-molested (one assumes). Rare to see these days though it probably wont stay like that sadly...
