not new but i thought id mention it!
i have here for your delight a 1938 Columbia Grafanola 204
i bought this a couple of years ago from Ebay and its brilliant! none of this posh electric nonsense here!!!
The sound is clear and very loud and a full wind will play about 1 and a half records...
The case has a hidden needle box that folds out of the corner to reveal about 50 brass stylus's ( styli ?)
anyway just thought id show it off. later the same month i bought 70 or 80, 78 records from a collector near london. Some gens in that lot. its a shame my mum isn't alive to have a look through..i can imagine here comments.
details.
model No 204c serial No B/2 47533 which makes it a 1938 (pre war :-) )
the "B" signifies the year 1936, and the numeral below the B is the number of years after 1936.
There's no comprehensive dating guide for Columbia products. This would probably have been produced in the mid to later 1930s, and would incorporate many of the design features of the HMV (His Master's Voice) line. (The Gramophone Company and Columbia merged in 1931)
