Picked up a Brand New Sealed PS2 Network Card - HDD Type - from a Cash Converters type shop - result!
I do it every time...
Sorry - changed the post around a little....
Cheers - I also picked up a set of Joytech Component Leads (from the other bay) specifically for the PS2 - I would really recommend them as they give a superb picture on both my big LCD TV's and are hands down much better than standard AV and so much better than RGB Scart which can look a bit blocky on newer TV's - they improve the PS2 picture no end - If you are still into your PS2 then I suggest getting a set. (It' not me selling them!)
Yes - you need to change the default video output from RGB to Y, Cb/Pb,Cr/Pr in the PS2 system set-up.
Use the S-Video connection on the Joytech lead to first get a picture, then make the change in the PS2 Set-up, it saves automatically so just re-set, take out the S-Video, plug in the Component leads and select your Component channel on your TV - you should get the display. You'll need to use the red and white stereo leads also.
I'd been playing Pinball "Williams Hall of Fame" and Killzone through RGB on my big LCD and was getting really annoyed at the blockiness but now I have swapped to these Joytech Component leads it is so much better.
Picture is for identification purposes.
I have a component cable for my ps2 and i changed the settings to Y, Cb/Pb,Cr/Pr and it seemed to improve the picture on the dashboard but in game seems no different.
I also found that i cannot play ps1 games with the component cable connected (not sure if this normal or not) but when a ps1 game is loaded i just get a black screen but can hear sound. If i pull the component out and plug in the standard av then the picture comes right up.
