Been on the look out for a decent CDi for a while and got this 220 for a steal :), I ordered a DVC cart and its all up and running , I am impressed with the game quality and the golf game (The Open) I got with this is one of the best I have played on a console.
Its hardly been used and the only thing needed is a Drive belt as its gone through age.

Just picked up this Game Gear with Manual and Battery Pack from a local Fleamarket. Physical condition is great and it seems to work, but I don't have any games for it (Wanted Post coming soon), so I can't fully test it yet. The Battery Pack is on charge at the moment, but I doubt it will hold much juice. Luckily these use standard remote control car/boat batteries, so replacing it isn't a problem.

Edit: Just opened it up. The usual suspects (capacitors) all need to be changed.
Nice catch, you'll probably need to replace the capacitors on the game gear. The battery is easy to replace, I recently did mine.

Of course the original battery is probably dead but they use rechargeable remote control car battery packs.
I ordered this which was very easy to install and works great. Combined with a LED screen mod you can get quite a few hours out of a single charge

It has three security screws, but with a small pointed pliers they are easy to remove. I've just replaced them on mine with standard philips screws.

@beaker: Oooo, everdrive :) That's a very good idea. Need to check that out. Can it play all titles, or just up to a certain size (like the GB Everdrive)?

also GG everdrive plays every game gear game I've thrown at it no matter what size (also plays master system games too) and the latest is updates now allows the use of sdhc cards instead of the 2gb limit it had before
