Love my sx-64. Mine had a broken connection for joystick port 1, I fixed that (bad cable), the sid is half dead (I'll drop in a swinsid) and while my keyboard loosened up a touch I will need to do the isopropanol alcohol clean myself, just like you did sweetlimre. Was it hard to do? hours and hours? is the membrane as fragile as I fear it will be?

Wasn't too hard, the trick is just to go very. very slowly when you are pulling the membrane up off of the circuit board.

My tips:

1. When removing the keys, make sure you don't loose any of the tiny springs in the middle. If you do, the key will no longer work.
2. Go slowly on the membrane. It will be stuck on both sides of where the key clips on. If you pull too hard it will tear. Lift gently from each side until it releases. Work around the membrane from each edge so that it lifts evenly.

he is replacing my sid chip which i got from Amibay, seeing if it can be converted to PAL (its NTSC) I will keep the PSU 110v and see why it randomly crashes. if its too much of a task (money vs time) it will be scrapped for parts.

Almost finished putting this together. C64 reloaded motherboard and transparent case from the kickstarter with the 3D printed keyboard standoffs from COREi64 (available on this forum).

There are some really nice pens that were made for the PSION and some ebook readers that would work fine with this and are probably very cheap on the other bay.
