a few thrift shop bits while out Christmas shopping (family is away for Christmas and not back until end of January, so I think I'll probably wait and take advantage of Boxing Week sales for the bulk of my gifts...) nothing much of spectacular interest, but it seems like a bit of a lull in my luck (and I suspect people are a: giving less good stuff to the shops lately, and b: with the economy in decline, shopping in them more often) after those good Avalon Hill finds a month and a half ago. well, literally nothing for Christmas (though I did receive some VISA gift cards, and cash, so that's alright), family was all away this year, and I didn't feel like traveling, so I declined a trip to BC, and there weren't very many great deals for Black Friday/Cyber Monday really (there's actually been some sales throughout the year that have been nearly as good anyways..) save for some great deals on 55"+ TVs (a few 70-75s in the $800-1000 area) but I have a 55", maybe get a 65"-70" next year, though.... but I did get a few gaming items, that were unexpectedly on sale... ('second hand' Star Wars Minis and DC/Marvel HeroClix haven't really had good (or any) sales in the past), since these are figures, it'll be a long and boring list for most :P

My Amiga 3000 Haul
Last week I bought this Amiga 3000 on eBay for <Snip>. I managed to spot it literally seconds after it was listed so I bought it immediately. It just arrived a few days ago and came complete with the original keyboard, pregnant mouse, a spare tank mouse, and as an added bonus it also has an A2386SX bridge board and Ethernet board too! It's also the less common 16MHz variant which is neat. The power supply was dead but that was easy to fix by replacing a pair of shorted HV switching transistors and a blown fuse. After that the system booted right up and still works just fine. :D

There is unfortunately some battery damage to the motherboard and also a leaking VARTA on the bridge board too, but I'll get those cleaned and fixed up in no time. It's certainly won't be the worse battery damaged A3000 I've had to repair...
For <Snip> I think this was one of the best A3000 deals I've seen in a long time, perhaps ever. Especially considering I got it on eBay!
