I have replaced this 2 760gtx in sli

the power consumption is 100w less @ full load

so my folding as slightly gone up
so now i get 160k ppd for the 780gtx
instead of 120-140k ppd for the 2 760gtxs
the 2 660gtxs give me 50k ppd each
the 2 760s will replace my 2 660s
and the 2 660s will go in my gaming rig replacing my 560ti

My Compaq Armada laptop now has WLAN! :D

Visited Tramel earlier today to see, if there was any goodies. No old stuff but there was a Cardbus WLAN card. B/G 108 MBit/s. I asked the clerk how much and when I heard the answer, I thanked the retro gods for people throwing away perfectly usable stuff that hobbyists can pick up next for nought.

It's a good thing that I got the WLAN card as my ethernet card was blocking the only USB port and the USB 2.0 PC card doesn't work without extra power from an USB port, which it too blocks. The WLAN card is flat so I can have the USB port free to be used.

I'm still amazed how lean and mean the Win2000 is compared to WinXP. I have an 8 bit SD card via an adapter as hard drive but I'm not sure whether I get any speed benefit from that.

Yamaha DX9

This was in at Music-Go-Round when I stopped in yesterday. I was expecting something kind of underwhelming, since Yamaha's other four-operator FM synths tend to be (except the TX81Z and its descendants,) but I was pretty amazed by how good the DX9 sounds. Where most of Yamaha's other 4-op FM synths are based on their single-chip sound sources, which are great in a Sega Genesis or arcade board but don't quite cut the mustard in a professional keyboard, the DX9 is basically the guts of a Mk.1 DX7 rearranged to fit the 4-op architecture, so it has The Sound of its more famous big brother, but in a simpler, more approachable package. Suffice to say, I fell in love and had to take it home with me when I went back for a second look today :)

I went to an event today at which there was a craft fair, and was delighted to find a few stalls that were selling fabric, mainly in fat-quarters (a fat-quarter is a quarter of a metre, or a quarter of a yard, of fabric, cut in a particular way - it's the most common way of getting quarter-metres of crafting fabric, as this particular cut is very convenient for cushions, patchwork, blankets, bags, and suchlike). Naturally, I couldn't resist, and I picked some up.

The piece in the upper-left is a beach-themed print. It reminded me a bit of some of the Beach Tribe's levels in Lemmings 2 (since quite a few of them have beach huts present), and I'd been looking for a fabric like that for a little while, so I went for that one on sight. :lol:

The upper-right piece is a cartoony/storybookish animals design. The general look of it (even down to the style of the animals' clothing) reminds me very much of the illustrations in The Complete Adventures of Blinky Bill, by Dorothy Wall, which I made a start on reading recently (I loved the 1990s animated version of Blinky Bill as a kid, so I was really happy to see that the book had become freely-available due to finally entering the public domain - I had actually hopped onto the Kindle store to buy it!). Also, I usually can't resist cute things like this, anyway, so naturally, I couldn't resist this fabric, either!

The piece at the bottom is a small cut (it's not a fat-quarter) of blue fleece with paw-prints printed on it. There isn't really a lot else that can be said about it. :lol:

I received the UnisDisk for my Apple IIGS yesteday. I'm finally able to properly boot my IIGS. :)

It came with an SD card that was preloaded with ProDos 3.3 and GSOS 6.0.1. Can't boot to GSOS yet as I need more RAM. The UnisDisk is technically a floppy emulator but it supports 32 MB images, so with a suitable image, it'll make a poor man's hard disk.

Sadly it shows a blank screen but after some seconds, seems to beep and respond to keyboard presses so I hope it's a video card issue (or worst case, monitor issue).

Take it apart and clean all the edge connectors with IPA using a lint free cloth or toothbrush and see if that helps.

I thought it looks very similar like this one --->DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus which you can buy at Maplin now. They got bad press review not so long ago because someone posted a YouTube video showing in flight footage of one of these flying over a car park. In short you are not allowed to fly one of these over a built up area.:lol:

The first is the mascot of Jelly Belly jelly beans, Mr. Jelly Belly. Due to the Jelly Belly sponsorship in Lemmings 3D, Mr. Jelly Belly is inextricably linked with Lemmings, for me, and I've been after one of these for years (they're not available from the UK Jelly Belly online store, and the US one contracts international shipping to one of those firms that charges ridiculous prices, much like eBay's global customs scheme). Finally found a brand new one from the 1996 run of them, which is coincidentally the same year that I bought Lemmings 3D. :lol:

Here's the other thing. Super-high-quality lemming hair! All future lemmings made by me will use this stuff, and it is lovely. It's the same type as I used for Lomax, but in the correct colour that regular lemmings' hair is. I also got a smaller piece in blue, so that I can finish the player-two-colours lemming that I'm currently working on for myself. :thumbsup:

Adding to my Megadrive stuff while I can - two bargain other-bay snipes and one car boot find! Fingers crossed hoping to pick some Genesis stuff as well, some of it's cheaper than pal.
