Got myself a 1541-II for my C64, all working great :D
Had to change the drive ID to 8 for games to load, I think Paradroid90 told me this before, was head banging at first lol as it was set to ID9

Needs a little retrobright lovin' to match the C64
Is that my old C64 that we spoke about Steve? Wow - looks like a great set up now!
Sure is mate :D
I have an SD2IEC too:
http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...64-with-SD2IEC

Love the Cup and I glad I bought it
Got this PS1 clear case from BluesBrothers a few months ago and its been sat in the cupboard since i found out it would only fit the 1000 series PS1.
i found a decently priced 1002 model here on Amibay which arrived today and here it is all recased.
The laser was a bit hit and miss but a bit of tweaking using this guide and now its working with everything i throw at it.

So we have, Corsair Case, PSU, Mobo with i5 3570k, Radeon 7950/3gb and Win7/Cooler.
To come tomorrow I have DVDRW, 1TB HDD/SSD Hybrid, Wireless Gaming Mouse, Wireless Keyboard with Touch Pad (as will be used on the main TV) and on Saturday I should have 8gb AMD Gamer Ram
Will start a thread for the build
Anyone want to buy an XBoxOne lol? (jk)
That nice Tower and where did you get it from?

http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/carbide...-atx-cube-case
Got from Amazon as it was the cheapest deal :)
I skipped Blu Ray as I have my PS3 for films and assume most games these days are Steam, etc.
Have to admit I was a little disappointed by the XB1 visuals so a high spec PC I think is the way to go now
I got some new dice and bits today. :D
http://i.imgur.com/4hYsg3A.jpg
Rock, Paper, Scissors dice (2x d3-d6) in a tiny drawstring bag
Blue translucent "gem"-style mini-sized standard polyset (d4, d6, d8, 2d10, d12, d20)
Virtues & Sins die (d14)
Dungeon/Building generator die (d12)
Who, What, Where, When, How, Why die (d6)
1/Tails & 2/Heads die (d2-d6)
Treasure value die (d3-d6)
There's also a fabric-lined dice cup, for times when my insanely noisy Super Mario dice shaker is too loud, and a "Game Over" embroidered patch to embellish a shirt that I made for Max the lemming.
Speaking of Max, the mini polyset allowed me to finish a functional dice bag accessory for him. Here's a better look at that, with a game CD present to give an idea of the tiny size of it all;

I'd absolutely love to get an SK model PET. They have wonderful style. :D
@Nobby_UK
I've used smaller versions of the adapter you posted in my Gotek and they work great. :)

pretty much the only reason i go to HIV...ermm..i mean HMV....any more...
not that i can't use hugely marked up throw pillows, mugs and towels....
Treated myself the other day. I had a bit of a downer on them for a long while, but managed to pick one up that i'm quite pleased with. A PS3. The fat 60gb version compatible with PS and PS2 games. I'm also a bit of a Singstar nerd.
Plus I really fancy having a crack at "the last of us". :-D
Last of Us is great buddy, i think you'll enjoy it.
Shameless plug but i've just listed GTA V in the software section if you fancy it
I had the exact same opinion and so stole a badge from a broken shell :)
Picked up this massive bag today. Can anyone guess what gem is inside?
The disks on top of the bag should hint at a certain type o' computer ;)
Amstrad PCW, by any chance? :)
So I've seen these a few times but they've always been too expensive for me. I had the chance to play with one at Revival a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to play with one of my own.
So my pickup for today was a Neo Geo AES with controller , power, av cable, Fatal Fury & King of the Monsters 2 which I bought locally off eBay.

As soon as I got home I set about sourcing a unibios chip. I will purchase a chip when I have spare cash again (this machine emptied my wallet) but for now I downloaded the free v3.1 and burned it using a willem (I will cover the window shortly). Original bios dropped out easily with the use of hot air and a socket was fitted.
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...c18b677931.jpg
I also don't like that it has no power led so that had to be fixed. I drilled into the reset cap and pushed in a led and then wired that to the nearby voltage regulator
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...43a6e1641d.jpg
And here it is all hooked up and working.

Nice AES :D

Got to be the best i've had in a long time.
SVI-728 for peanuts. No cables or PSU.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp/MSX_SVI_728.jpg
The MB looks ok.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp/MSX_SVI_728_mb.jpg
Except all the ceramic caps. They have white goo on them. Some have also leaked on the mb. Never seen this before.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp...I_728_caps.jpg
Some 1541-II drives. One without PSU. All other have PSU and cables and user manuals.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp...-II_drives.jpg
Broken C64 PSUs for the cost of shipping. I'll replace the 5V side with 2A rated SMPS PCB.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp/C64_PSU_box.jpg
Broken C64 controller. It will donor the cable to a TAC-2.
http://plazma.kapsi.fi/pictures/temp...controller.jpg
There was no time to write that :)
2 weeks ago changed flat ;)
1 week ago I bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 11" screen size. It's a very nice toy ;)
@plazma
This white goo on caps and chips can be some kind of "guarantee sticker". When You desolder IC or caps, You break that and service team see that someone tries to do something alone and there is no guarantee service ;) Simple and effective ;)
Some one suggested it is high temperature wax. Ceramic caps have been impregnated with high temperature wax for protecting the cap from oxidation. These may have too much wax.
I'll desolder one and measure the capacitance and ESR.
Anyone got a spare SVI-728 PSU? It got 9VAC and 16VAC output so it's quite hard to replace it.
They definitely haven't leaked. That type of cap doesn't have anything to leak. The stuff that leaks is electrolyte, and that is only in electrolytic capacitors. All other types are made of solid materials. It's some sort of wax to support the caps.
Bryce.
