My Amazon Kindle arrived last week :-) The screen is both awesome and strange!
What is strange about it? I was considering an e-reader, but unsure about the way you can get your own files onto it, which is very long winded.
It just doesnt look real, almost like the screen on fake mobile phones in the phone shops.
When I opened it I thought it was a sticker to protect the screen. This isnt a criticism I am really blown away by the quality of it.
As far as transferring books onto it.... No problem, I just send an email to my kindle email address and 30 seconds later, there they are. You can use USB but havent bothered to be honest!
This thing will take pdfs, html, txt, jpg, doc you name it really. I can highly recommend it.
YES! i finally got one! locally too so no big postage expenses ;)
back in Poland, years ago, i could only dream of owning one :)
so ladies and gents, once she arrives at my place i will be asking lots and lots of questions to help me get her to a pristine shape ;)
specs are 68030, 2mb CHIP, 8mb FAST, Kickstart 3.1.
cheers,
Marcin
I just received an A4000T from softhut.com. It is a great computer. now I am testing it with video cards and other little changes that I want. This is the first new A4000 that I have had.
I received these 2 cuties from Germany today. They came here 10 days after posting. Quite fast i think. The small tatty box belongs to the floppy. Thank God the seller put a lot of bubble bags.
@Seaside
I'm very jealous! I really want to get a 3DO and would also like a 1551 at some point. Very nice!
Heather
Thanks Heather
I'm glad because i finally complete my 3DO collection.
This is the 5th unit and the last. I have the FZ10,FZ1,Sanyo,Goldstar Grey and Goldstar Black.
I'm expecting a second 1551 to complete the 16,116,plus/4 collection.

These came 5 days earlier directly from Tokyo.
ORIGINAL Mega Drive 2 & Limited Edition Gold N64 which handles NTSC-J + NTSC-U carts.
The most recent thing I have picked up was 3 Amiga 2000's from JiggyMF, all rev 6 motherboarbs, 1 with GVP 030 Combo and 1 with GVP HC8II, these are fine machines almost without battery damage.
For about 5 crates of beer, I paid cash, but this gives you an idea of what I paid.
But what I have picked up in the last months is truely too much, you just wouldn't believe it.
@Seaside
It is a fully prepared MAME machine!
;)
@seaside:
I've got a Taiwanese megadrive almost completely identical, box and all. Only difference is it outputs 50hz PAL and has different leaflets included. Got it sealed from a bloke on ebay.
This is my personal favourite piece of hardware:

Wow, jvd! That monitor pedestal is even larger than the MacMini footprint!!! :D
Yes Salaxi, that is rather stupid, Anyhow, we have ecocheques to buy ecologic products from our company's
You can only buy eco friendly products with them...
Well sort off..Well you know we are creative the Belgian.. I ended up with a new screen and a grill for meat. Real ecofriendly
So I went to the first shop that would allow me to buy, and asked for bright white, monitor, yes sir, we will call you, and voila...
You may not want to keep that monitor on top of the mini they get pretty
hot...

Dear All,
yesterday i was at the birthdayparty of my father in law.
Nice party, good food, and i was stonecoldsober (one of the many benefits of having a car).
At some point the laughter fled into the clear sky untill suddenly my brother in law broke the silence by blurting out "why P1, you have been silent all evening".
So with everyone's attention focussed on me i quickly evaluated my options and decided to "engage in battle".
Mumbled something like: i was just thinking about you braging about your new 'puter, but i am working on a machine from 1998 that does the same.
LOL at first he thought i mentioned a price, not a year.
For a while we compared mhz, bytes and operating systems, everybody joined with either their newest machines or their oldest memories.
When i mentioned the A2000's scsi setup, he suddenly stood up, picked up a box FROM NEXT TO THE GARBAGEDUMPSTER and said: check this out P1, before i throw it away.
Yours truly opened the box, closed it again and said: i'll put it in my car now.
Evening suddenly went sloOoOoOoOow, i couldnt wait to get home and
test the stuff.
The party ended after a lot of fun and chitchat, wifey and me went home after a nice and enjoyable birthdayparty.
Things in the box:
3 scsi1 disks ibm
1 scsi1 disk seagate st14207n
2 scsi3 disks.
1 external scsi3 cdrw
1 internal scsi1 cdrom
2 nics
2 scsi3 cards
1 ava1502 card with terminated flatcable on it
1 internal modem
bunch of memory
So i tested some of the stuff:
3 scsi1 disks all worked fine (2 dors32160 and 1 dcas32160).
Scsi1 disk seagate (st14207n 4.3gb full height) did spin, but too loud to be used.
External scsi3 cdrw contains a scsi1 hp drive, reads but very slow.
Internal scsi1 cdrom dead as a doornail.
hehehe the saying "every dog has his day" comes to mind

Today I received my A1000 from Almaniac (cheers chap!) :D
Good news: this appears to have a known motherboard config in it, unlike my other Amiga 1000 which is a very, very early PAL model based on the NTSC motherboard with daughter card.
Not a huge score but picked these up a while ago
Dear All,
i just picked up a few atticfillers...amd and intell towers and a reallife mac ;)
Now you all might have guessed im not through with being a Amiga-noob, so it stands to reason that i will add being a Apple-nut to my characterflaws.
Applespecs: powerpc g3 266mhz, 512k cache, 32mb/4gb/24x cdrom/zip.
It has a lot of funny connectors at the back....i have nothing to connect to that ;(
There is a db15-2row to vga programmable adaptor on it, can i try and connect any old multisync crt to it?
If specs are correct, what os would fit that concrete block?
Thanks for all info you might want to set loose on me ;)
Grtz, PymerOne.
@PymerOne:Nice finds! You could open a thread and talk about all-things Beige G3 (your "new Mac"), but first-off if it's one of the early ones without USB, you need a set of ADB port mouse and keyboard. As for the VGA adapter, i can only tell you my own settings. 1,4,5,8,9,10 =OFF 2,3,6,7 =ON. Working well on a 19" CRT Hitachi monitor..
Salaxi54, thnxx for your adapter-config, i will try that as soon as i get my hands on a keyboard/mouse set for this machine ;)
hehehe a p1-apple thread there will be....lack of knowledge was never able to stop me.
I seen apples perform magic in publishing companies i worked for back in the days that air was clean and sex was dirty, never expected i was gone own a glorious machine like that myself ;)
Grtz, PymerOne.
New Goodies from Japan, USA and some CDTV parts. <-- but i'll not keep them all.
Nice!!! (For above)
I bought them here, so this is a bit redundant, but here's my A1000 and the 1084S monitor!! (And my A1200 too, with it's new 8M RAM card is in the PIC.)
http://i1014.photobucket.com/albums/...0-17140025.jpg
I cleared enough room to put the Apple IIc on the upper shelf even.
My wife is happier that the IIc isn't on the kitchen table anymore. ;-)
(You can't see it, but the Vectrex is to the left of the Apple, it was on the kitchen counter.)
I didn't do to great a job trying to re-solder the audio jack on the A1000. The RCA jack support tab is broken clean in 2, so I think I just need to replace it
(I could just pull audio from the AV plug too)
And the internal floppy has been hit or miss. It was mostly working before I put it back together, but I would still have to retry/reinsert a few times to get it to boot.
Then, just now when I put the case on and tried it, it worked fine...
The A1200 is hooked to the RGB port and the A1000 is composite for now.
I have amigamaniac's s-video adapter, so I'll probably get/make an s-video to split RCA cable and use the 1084S chroma/luma input for that.
I checked my A1000 and it is upgraded for EHB. (As a REV-A NTSC, I think it's likely it came without that.) And the Insider II is still working great on it, so I have almost 2M RAM there.
All in all, pretty happy.
I still have to totally take apart the A1000 keyboard as I have 1 key that doesn't want to come back up when pressed (backspace) and one key that doesn't seem to respond at all (CAPS lock), and a few others that don't always register a press.
I'm not gutsy enough to try the dishwasher bit... ;-)

Thanks for sharing that picture! I'm very happy the 1084S went to a good home and it looks really good sitting on top of your A1000! The S-Video using Chroma/Luma sounds like a great idea too. :)
:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Heather

You can even make a boot partition in one tape and use it to boot your Amiga!
Yesterday I received the replacement HxC Floppy Emulator for the previous one that was damaged during shipping. I think we had some language related communication problems so I got very frustrated with the situation. I eventually sent the damaged unit back to Lotharek and he immediately sent me a new one. He's a top notch guy and I would recommend him and his products to anyone!
Thanks Lotharek! :D
Heather
@Heather sorry to hear that, its a real shame. These items should really be boxed though, PCB's in a Jiffy just isn't good enouough IMHO, oh and should have been anti static bagged (assuming it wasn't if it got water damage.)
Hope you get it sorted.
ps. you might want to blur the address' on the Photo...
@fitzsteve
That IS a box in the picture! :o It was dropped in water during shipment and then crushed. The quote with the pictures is from a few months ago. I already got it sorted and Lotharek sent me the replacement that I received yesterday. :D Unfortunately, he doesn't ship the items in an anti-static bag. It's all good now. :)
It's OK if people want to see my work address. :)
Heather
Im loving this new toy, half 386SX, half MegaDrive, thanks Scrappy! :D
Bit of a rubbish picture, sorry about that.
Before I start explaining what exactly this is, and where it originates from, let's have some guesses:
