I managed to buy a Commodore SX-64. I had to change the PLA chip and reseat the Kernal chip. Works very well. Drive motor is a little bit noisy but works.
Probably not the most amazing find, but I really like this lot I got that even have the original assembly instructions:

I came to an end in my collecting a year or so ago where I had everything I wanted. so.. what do I do then? Spend more time using them than searching? That's not as much fun. I love treasure hunting. So I went from picking up my "bucket list" to "that looks cool". ;) a dangerous idea.
Getting a bit carried away with the zx spectrums. THe white one has a justspeccy128 board in
the blue one is a new case ( google retro radionics!) but while beautifully made I hated the mottled silver so blue it had to be. A ***** to get close to the faceplate paint colour!

While old computers are my main focus, I also enjoy photographic equipment. I just couldn't resist picking up six cases of cameras and equipment from an estate sale this week-end.
There are 2x medium format cameras and 2x SLRs with many lenses and other things. This image is about half of the haul.
The Zeiss lenses are worth a small fortune. :)

Very happy to find a CD Rom drive for my A1200 and the Amiga Analyzer looks cool :)
Are you sure they're not bananas? They say bananas.
:P
Heather
Picked up this USB Zip 100 drive, came with 14 working discs (I already have 3x Parallel Zip100 drives + about 20 discs for my older systems, but this USB one will be better on the newer systems) for a decent price (pretty much what I would expect to have paid for 14 Zip100 discs, really)
I am also thinking about perhaps getting a SCSI version for the Mac Classic I got a while ago, which would make it easier to get stuff onto the Mac, and additional storage for it as well.
of course a larger SCSI HD and SD card solution for it would be good options also...

I think this thread should be renamed to "living vicariously through SaviorX" 😂
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
^^ and a tour of his castle thats needed for all this, i'm so jealous of the space. :D
well, I can't imagine anyone living vicariously through me, tbh...
as for my castle, well, I am in a roughly 590sq ft 1br apartment, though fortunate, I suppose... to have an in-suite storage room that is about the size of a small bedroom...about 7'x7' or so, but that also figures into the 590sq ft as well...and at this point, it is packed full...
I certainly do enjoy doing the thrift store runs and finding interesting stuff (though I do realize that for most people at least half of what I bring home is probably junk these days...who collects CDs any more...well, I guess I do because a: they are cheap now...and b: I never really had a decent collection when CDs were the thing...probably 20-25 CDs outside my XTC collection at best...and probably no one cares about things like the random books, but this is just the stuff I have always liked to collect, particularly classic literature in hardback)
I would love it if there were still more stuff that is more along the lines of what this site is about of course, retro computers and video game stuff...but that seems few and far between these days...I guess the last 'relevant' find was the Entex Arcade Defender handheld... (well and the Mac Classic, but that was a private sale, not a thrift shop find)
Of the stuff I do see, as you can probably tell, I love finding the gaming/rpg stuff from the early 90s and earlier, that load of 19 RPG books, 8 gaming mags and 8 CYOA/FF gamebooks (mainly from the 80s and very early 90s)...as well as a couple of 'original' Smurf figurines really made my day...well, 2 days...and then throw in a few other cool bits like Pandemic Contagion, Knave of Hearts (although I am not huge on party games, anything from the original incarnation of TSR is very welcome) and of course a few Star Wars toys, as well as an Asterix book (albeit in slightly rough shape)
back in the day I used to love to hit the swap-meets on the weekends, until the vendors largely took over the bigger, more established ones, kind of like whats happened to ebay in many respects (although being global...and huge...that isnt always a bad thing...in some respects its easier to find things you want/need)
I have seen a few other things more along the lines of what people collect here, but these days if the thrift shop thinks it's old, then it must be valuable, and either put a ridiculous price on it...or put it up for auction.
I guess it is actually probably a good thing that I don't have a vehicle, or I would likely hit all the swap meets and estate sales around, as opposed to just busing it down to the thrift stores 2 times a month or so, I would probably be in trouble very quickly
though, lately I have been thinking that I should tone it down a bit, or at the very least just post the most cool stuff (although, that is fairly subjective) before I start to annoy too many people :p
although...I have to admit...as of late, this- in and of itself, has become something of a hobby for me...:D
What I love about your posts is the diversity of stuff you collect. Something for everyone and oftentimes things I haven't heard of that peak my interest in new directions. Certainly no annoyance from my side!
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
well, I was thinking not only just the sheer amount of stuff I sometimes find/post, but the fact that occasionally every 2nd posting is one of mine, that I thought might be getting a little annoying for some :-P
I do like adding to this particular thread, though.
I particularly like that fact its got 6,770 posts, and 622,995 (almost 623K!) views...
I thought it was about time I posted something in here.

I'm heading to Africa for the next two months and decided I wanted to try my hand at aerial video. Didn't want to spend too much, so this is what I picked up.
Attachment 123780
I picked up this old thing because it was dirt cheap and if I squint I can pretend I still have an Amiga 4000!
Attachment 124049
Inside it's a 386sx motherboard with a Cyrix 486slc CPU and on board VGA. A riser card gives it 5 ISA slots.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to get it to boot, so far no output from the built in VGA. The battery has made quite a mess but at least it was confined to one corner of the board.
I have hope that it will live as there seems to be some activity on the ISA bus. I think I'll try getting my hands on another video card and see if I can get a picture out of it.
Awesome!
Call me crazy, but I've been after a Coleco ADAM for a very long time. Feeling a bit p33d off that my Apple II projects have come to a (hopefully temporary) halt as a result of my untidyness borkng my system I thought I'd take a peek @ fleaBay before bed.
Boxed Coleco ADAM with 2 mins to go... bidding not too ridiculous... one quick snipe later and blow me if I didn't get it!Yep, pleased as punch. I've no idea how I'm going to sneak this past my better half given it's size and a printer loud enough to wake the dead!
not posted for a while.

So, it's been a few months since I ordered any gaming stuff (almost 7, in fact - just after Christmas...) and Games Workshop has released new teams/players (Dwarfs, Goblins, Trolls and Ogres), pitches, dice, cards and rules sets for Blood Bowl in the meantime...
picked up:
Skaven/Dwarf 2-sided pitch
Dwarf Giants team (12 dwarf players)
Dwarf Giants block dice set
also a bit behind on X-wing ships, Imperial Assault figures and there's an Expansion for Rebellion coming out soon, as well. (not to mention Goblins, Trolls and Ogres for BB)
Hey guys hows it all hanging !! :)
just want to show a picture of a parcel I was sent to help out a fellow amigan who lives in Europe and the seller would only post to the UK
He sent these atari`s in a box with next to no packing and the two Atari`s must have been doing the fandango in the box on their way to me :) and obviously they are both damaged.
Also I have never seen so much crap on retro items eeewwwww
So how not to send a package :

Acorn's line of 8 bit computers are in my opinion wonderful machines and got better with every model... a shame they were always stuck with a maximum of 8 colours per screen. 16 colour modes were just 8 colours plus 8 flashing combinations...
Well the awesome RobC over on the *. forums has come up with a replacement ULA that does rather better, how about a fully programmable pallet of 4096 colours plus some very nice new modes with total compatibility and the ability to recolour existing games / software?
I got my latest rectangle of awesome through the post today and here it is in my Model B:

Thrift/Dollar Store time again...tons of CDs this time around, every place I went seemed to have ones I hadn't got yet (and in fact, would have a few more, but so many were scratched to hell, including Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation, which is one I've been looking to find for a while now, such a shame...)

I have gotten a few duplicate CDs in the last little while, as it's begun to get difficult to remember what I have, but it kind of forced me to finally input the bulk of my collection to Discogs (and put the app on my phone)

We need to change the title of the thread to "SaviorX's Thrift Store Scores" :D
Bryce.
Maybe people could start scoring my scores, like a couple months ago, all that 80s RPG stuff might be 10/10, and the one from a few days ago, although fairly cool with a couple good games, the Ghostbusters figs and the Star Wars vehicle book, would maybe only be 7/10 at best....
Another small thrift store/comic shop run (I had a 30% discount at one thrift store which needed to be used this week or it expired, and I hadn't gotten any of the sealed PotF Star Wars figs in a while and felt like grabbing some from the comic shop)

Some nice acquisitions there!
I've tried on multiple occasions to get into the LEGO video games but I just can't. The animations and cut scenes are amazing but the gameplay is just about solving simple puzzles and collecting bricks, which is a bit boring to me. Maybe they get more difficult and exciting farther into the games but I never got far enough into them to find out.
