This is today's little haul. There are a few other A1200 spares missing from this pic, but this gives away most of the important bits. A decent, clean A1200 (Kick 3.1, 4GB CF) a pair of Blizzard 1230IVs, an IDE-fix, a PCMCIA SCSI card, parallel hand scanner and a parallel 4-player joystick adapter. All this for what I considered a very respectable price.
Just got this today, takes me back to the 80s when I had my 464

Got a few floppies with it. Blows my mind working with floppies with the CPC. No rewinding :)
Just ordered a new stereo for my vehicle! I've had a Sony CDX-MP70 for about 10 years now so I've been wanting to get a new stereo with new features. I decided on the Sony XNV-770BT which has built-in navigation along with Bluetooth for connecting my phone and iPod integration. Should work out great!

Can't wait for it to arrive!

@TC with a double din cage me old fruit:)
Quote of the year? :p
The vehicle actually came with a stereo that is the same size as the new one I'm getting. I have the older stereo installed with a mounting kit. The vehicle is a 2010 and didn't come with an Aux input so I took it out and put in my 10 year old stereo that does have an Aux input.
Heather
Haha, Juzzy missed it first time round..:p
But er thank you both for the most thorough and technical explanation.
TC :grouphug:
Picked up this little lot up today for not very many pennies as I was looking for an ATX power supply...
Dell P4 Desktop

AMD Athlon 64 and other stuff

http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/y...x/DSCF0360.jpg
And in amoungst everything I found this nice TEAC slimline DVDRW which came out the Dell complete with ribbon and adapter, which I tested out with IDEfix97 and turns out to work perfectly, so a possible A1200 case mod coming up :)
http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/y...x/DSCF0361.jpg
Also included was the slimline floppy drive with adapter ribbon which gave me an idea for a further case mod with the drive added to a catweasel adapter on the clockport...

Oooo, a box with Japanese writing on it

My very own Neo Geo CD
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/IMG_3259.jpg
I need to get a European PSU before I can use it, but damn it looks awesome!
Off to find some more games. ;)
Looks damn good!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I remember watching games master on channel 4 with domonic diamond years ago, and whenever they pulled out the neo-geo for some gaming i was blown away with how much like the arcade games it looked.
i always wanted one never did get one though..
Colour me jealous.
Thanks guys, just bought the PSU so will be able to play in a few days lol
its a beauty mr fitzsteve, would love to see it running whenever you come up here. Great catch and buy! Yes I am very jealous.
Would love to see the boot rom/screen firing up and touch the controllers, I heard these consoles things weigh a ton as well.
So many questions!
Watch out though, I'll whip out my Hyper Neo Geo 64 and you won't stop the NG collecting now!
Would love to see that mate, I'll see if I can make it to Curry night in a few weeks, I'm due a Saturday off at some point
Yeah this beast is pretty heavy, Can't wait to fire her up. I should've bought the PSU in advance but wanted to be 100% sure it was the same voltages (Neo has 10v and 5v on PSU) as didn't want to splash out £30 on a useless PSU lol :coffee:
I've already aquired a few games so I'll be ready to rock n roll when it gets here...
Nice condition Neo Geo there
As it happens, one of these beasties is likely the next thing on my shopping list. Do you need a stepdown converter for it or just a uk psu?
Nice looking Neo Geo you have Steve. I have just bought an AES and also ordered Art of Fighting 2. Cant Wait:).
"Broken" JAP Wii off eBay for £10. Came with PSU + Video cables + Sensor Bar.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330675645345
Turned out not to be broken after all but Semi-bricked due to an update from a UK disc.
Re-flashed to UK (couldn't be doing with JAP txt on all the menu's and no RGB) and it's all lovely. Even the dvd drive which was reported as not working turned out to be cMIOS (a hack to play backup gamecube discs has a side effect that retail Wii discs don't boot via the disc channel).
Now to get some Wiimotes for it :)
My Neo Geo AES arrived today along with Art of Fighting 2. Just thought I would post a couple of pics:).
Might do a little review if anyone is interested.
Sorrry for the quality of the pics:(
nice machine there mate a review would be great with many piccys
I've been buying up parts left right & center for my retro-pc... which is probably going to be 2 in the long run ;)
Anyway, I have amassed (or hoarded) a nice selection of sound cards, so thought I'd share:
First, an AWE32 Value. Nice card, nowt special to say.
Attachment 22652
Next, an AWE64 Gold... with an extra bit! Looks like the crystal has taken a bash, but it should be ok, or replacable. The extra brick bolted on supposedly gives the AWE its full 28mb of wavetable ram. This is hopefully my card of choice.
Attachment 22653
A Gus Max is next. I thought, back in the day, the GUS was awesome. In the Pentium days, when PC demos were still worth watching, you'd be stupid to do so without a GUS.
Attachment 22654
Soundblaster 2.0. Pimped out with the CMS chips. Boxed too!
Attachment 22655
Soundblaster 16. This is closest to my hardware specs from yonder years. I had one with the ASP chip soldered on, and none of this poxy IDE hardware
Attachment 22656
For retroPC #2 - probably a '98 or basic XP machine, I have this little beauty. Boxed & new
Attachment 22657
Now, graphics cards. I am in a few minds about which way to go. AGP is the obvious choice, but I kind of think PCI may give better compatibility to the old dos stuff. So, here are what I have picked up so far:
s3Virge. Probably going to be in RetroPC #2, as I doubt DOS stuff will support it's advanced features. It depends on how good it's VESA compatibility is.
Attachment 22658
s3 Trio64. I used to have one of these... it was pretty compatible with a lot of demos.
Attachment 22659
And finally. I figured I will try SATA on my humble dos machine, as a way to break the limitations of old bioses. Picked this little beast up for a few quid. Supports raid should I be desperate enough!
Attachment 22660
nice little selection you got there
Forgot to mention I picked up some more A4000 bits, I plan to split these into various projects but for testing I hooked it up on my test area.
The A4000 Mothertboard was refurbished by JJB, so should be good as new. It also has CSMkI (040 @40mhz) 64mb Ram, ZorRam 128mb, CyberVision 64/3D, DKB Scan/Flicker Magic(seems to be dead) and an X-Surf
I was messing around with it, everything apart from the Scan Doubler seems to work, and even booted into Denbian which the last user installed - although I'm a Linux Noob and had no idea what to do with it :coffee:
Oh and there was a spare 030 CPU which will come in handy!

Next thing to do is strip down and clean everything :bounceBoingBall:
steve you have a snifferpig
great find again
Just bought this as a nice little amiga/ emulation machine. Wanted one when they 1st came out a couple of years ago, but the £2500 sony were charging always put me off buying one for some reason
Will be setup with Win7 when it arrives this Friday :D
Was between this and a tablet device, and well this was cheaper and is more flexible with software that I'd actually use.
1.3ghz Core Solo, 1gb Ram, 40gb hdd (Soon to be a 128gb 1.8 ssd I have lying around). Should be a nice computer to have when I go traveling again also.
I wonder, if AROS would play nicely with it?
Big ass 200w stepdown converter :D
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...e/IMG_3310.jpg
Powah! :ninja:
Yeah!! Loving the carry handle - that is one bad-ass step down.
Plug that girl into something else funky one day (apart from the NGCD - what about an FM Towns Marty!).
I'm sure you and that step down are going to have fun!
EDIT - does it humm? Mine humms a little :)
Have you tried the scan doubler with a CRT monitor? Some flicker fixers don't work with LCD monitors. A flicker fixer I used to have in my a1200 didn't work at all on LCDs but worked fine on CRTs I used it with. Similar story with my a2320 now, gives funny patterns on my LCD monitor but works beautifully on the behemoth of a 20" CRT I use :).
Ah debian, I had fun with that back in the day, I remember trying to play freeciv on it at a snails pace as I didn't have enough RAM to play it under AmigaOS but linux had the magic of virtual memory! I wonder if they still maintain that, could be fun to mess around with.
Hi!
I've used a DCE Scan Magic with this Monitor before so it should work, I'm going to try it on my A1200 though before I write it off as faulty ;)
I'm not sure I'll do much with Linux, looks great for running wb servers, but not sure what else I'd do with it.
Was cool to see it running though and also ran x-windows gui, but that was pretty slow...
Wonder what it's like on 060...
Steve.
Went on a litte trip for 4 x A1200 - all with HD's and the following accelerator cards:
Blizzard 1220/4 (4mb)
Blizzard 1220/4 upgraded to 8mb (soldering job)
Blizzard 1230 Mk-III (Ram seems to be maxed out, have not checked yet)
Blizzard 1230 Mk-IV (Ram seems to be maxed out, have not checked yet)
The stuff belonged to a senior citizen, who had used it for daily stuff and MIDI- from the filedates it looks like it has been used recently (in the 2000's) - somehow the stuff found it's way to a recycling station where the guy I bought it from took it from.
It got it a fair price :-) Picture attached..
Cleaning time....
nice find bitman
Finally got my uIEC/SD and a C64/128->S-video cable.
Have put aside next Monday to get a pic of and arrange a replacement for a damaged capacitor on the 128's motherboard. Machine still works, so I'm going to spend the rest of that day really getting to know how it works and create my first interrupt routine :)
My trusty old pc needed a bit more spice, plus I got tired of XP so I bought myself Windows 7....
I bought a Wizard 3 Button mouse for my A4000D, I use one on the A4000T and it rox so thought Id get another :D
IBrowse/2.4 (AmigaOS 3.9; 68K)
4gb is available in 32bit. But your gfx card removes 1gb leaving you with 3gb maximum.
Guys, it says 64bit version on McVencos DVD

Anyone here know about old Tellys?
It's a sovereign sr17 apparently. I found it in a skip with the lead cut off, and after having a look inside I put a new one on and fired it up.
Surprisingly, no valves! All solid state. Black and white though.
On the to-do list is figure out why the volume slider is so sensitive. To low it just cuts out, then as you slide it up it very quickly becomes very loud. Too loud and it starts buzzing like mad.
The contrast dial is a bit funny too. When you turn it, the screen gets tons of interference which stops as soon as you do. Not a big bother and I dunno if that's normal?
Am I correct in guessing that the tuner/demodulator spits out regular composite and mono audio? I want to bypass it to make plugging stuff that doesn't have a modulator (dvd player) easier, but I'm scared of blowing it up accidentally feeding sound into where the video goes or something.
The sweeney looks dead good on it though:thumbsup:
