Wow, a white CoCo1 (but they called them the CoCo2 outside of North America. A very rare and sought after CoCo here in North America for it was Classified as a CoCo 1 with 64 k of ram. You also got the "melted Keyboard" on it, not as nice as the Enhanced keyboards, but it still a Beauty!
Hmm yes I did notice they had different keyboards. I thought this varient was ment to be better but yeah still doesn't feel all that great. Barely a step above the rubber key Speccys if i'm honest. :P
Didn't they call the other keyboard "Chiclet keys" or something like that? Aparently something to do with an American Chocolate or candy.
Oh and I have tested all 3 micros and they all power on, display and type fine. :D
Got some new (well) Amiga Format issues to bolster my steadily growing collection (of about 9 issues now).
This includes a mint copy of issue 4 and the wonderful, bumper 300 page Christmas special issue 18, complete with a cool article about robots.
I love robots. Not like that though. Wronguns.
Also sourced a doovder full of miggy ebooks, which are nestled on the kindle, waiting to be useful.
:D
can't wait to get my new toys!!!!

Nice! I hope to build a setup very close to that spec over the next few months or so, though maybe not an SSD or such a mega GFX card for the time being. If you (or anyone for that matter!) spot any good deals new or used for the UK for PC parts then let me know please. :)
Don't go out of your way to do it though, just of you stumble accross anything. ;)
just got a bunch of gaskets, sprcket carrier bearing. 2 crank bearings. fule filter, performance spark plugs. and a shiney new crash helmet.
I now know where 1 helmet is. there should be a nother 199 of them in the uk lol.

Did you get a keyboard with that MSX? They can be difficult to find (the right one to fit).
Quite many of the MSX computers are rack compatible. My Philips NMS-8250 MSX2 also looks like a VCR from the outside.
Kieran, the Pioneer's keyboard connector looks a lot like Atari STs monitor connector. That's a DIN 13. Totally different from Philips' keyboard connector, though.
EDIT

I hope to stumble upon someting like that some day :)
Star Wars figs
(also Star Wars Vehicles, board/RPG/Minis games, mag and comics)
got away from it over the years, used to have many of the original (1977-1983) toys, comics and cards, been returning to it over the last year or so.
also included are some photos of ships i also have.
The "Chiclet" keyboard referred to chiclet gum. the keys looked and were the size of them. it was absolutely horrible to type on them. Now, the chiclet keys are making a come back with laptops (I think apple started it), but they are much better than the old ones.
The CoCo had 3 keyboard in it's life span- Chiclet, Melted (what you have) and the "pro" keyboard- which everyone loved, it was perfect to type on.
Drop an email to Bas Kornalijnslijper kornalijnslijper@quicknet.nl and ask if he has a keyboard for your Pioneer. Bas is a good resource of MSX related stuff in the Netherlands. Check out also his website.
Just got this A1200 as a project, been stripped and its in untouched state just damage to the two outer middle fixing lugs so have used two small zip ties to make good, not pretty but effective and unseen.

I'm going back to my TRS-80 2 computer and the serial number seems VERY low indeed.
http://i579.photobucket.com/albums/s...004_151612.jpg
No. 335?!
@tokyoracer
Surely that's 500335?
Dave G
Alot of S/N's seem to start with a number and anything after that number is the number produced. This is an early model TRS-80 Colour 2, I doubt it got to half a million with the old keyboard type (infact I doubt they even sold 1/2 a mil just in PAL units of this model). I guess it's possibble someone swapped out the keyboard but it is unlikely i'd say.
Thanks to commodorejohn for the info, I did Wiki it after and learnt alot about the history of these computers. Something I should have done before really. :)
That is one to inflate your sales
Dave G
Now, some of my friends call my "The Master of Trash", and hmmm, they might be right.
At least, I'm often lucky to stumble over good stuff, that others have thrown away };-P
This sunday morning, I was on my way home from having picked up my 8year old daugther at a sleepover-birthday-party. It rained i little bit, but not at all 'cats and dogs'. Suddenly I see a well-known logo from the corner of my eye...the characteristic 'C=' };-P
Outside a house, a pile of stuff was laying there on the pavement for the dustmen to pick up monday morning. A closer inspection revealed that it was a C128, PSU, Datasette, C1571, The Boss joystick and last (but not least) a C1901 monitor...
Luckily, I also had my 17month old son with me in the pram, cause this was a big lot to carry. Without much thought, I stuffed everything but the monitor (it was too big to fit) under the pram. And steering the pram with one hand and carrying the monitor in the other, we slowly walked home. (My daugther is always pretty embarrassed when her father 'steels' other peoples trash, so she was a bit grumpy };-S)
Now when I got home and had a look at the goodies, it was all a bit wet because of the rain, so it had to stay in a warm place for a couple of days. But worse, I discovered that the guy who had thown these goods away, was not just a gorram frakker for doing so, but also evil. He had kindly cut ALL the wires from the things!!!

http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_2924.jpg
http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_2925.jpg
Now the monitor is the biggest 'catch' of the lot I think...a first it seems like it only has inputs for composite and RGB-I (4-bit digital RGB). However after a little bit of googling, I found this awesome guy:
http://jetsetskippy.blogspot.dk/2012...itor-1985.html
It seems like, the chassis of this little frakker has a connector for SCART, you just have to fit it };-P Today I popped the case open, and was glad to find, that my monitor has the same chassis:

http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_2926.jpg
I'm soooo looking forward to start on this project };-P

Wow what kind of asshat cuts the cords off all that great gear!!!
Saw an old DOS PC with an array of ISA cards inside (one of wich was a Roland LAPC or ESM-SSC at a guess) along with a load of what looked to be old Archemedes machines at the local recycling tip. Asked the staff if I could take some off their hands as I "re-use" these and in short they said no. Apparently with all the CCTV about and all that rubbish.
This world we live in today where you can't even pick stuff up destined for a landfill.
strange.
i thought the law was.
Its rubish you can have it If you ask for it and the owner says yes. the owner remains the person who threw it out untill it is collected by the disposal company and then it becomes there property, But you can still ask for it and if they say yes its ok..
so cctv shouldnt have come in to it.. I guess it could be some sort of contractor deal where they arent deemed the owners but the local city council would be the owners and they just collect it for them. but that seems a bit anal to me.. But having said that the way things are going now you will have to call an electrician to come change a light bulb if one fuzes soon.
I don't know how things are in the UK, but over here there's been a noticeable shift in a lot of places towards ensuring that things are recycled through Proper Channels (i.e. broken down for scrap) rather than going to individuals (a lot of larger places, I understand, won't even allow you to buy from them anymore.) The CCTV thing is probably just a rationalization for something like that.
(What's really galling about it is that reuse is far better for the environment than recycling, since you expend no energy in breaking it down and separating it, produce no byproducts, and actually reduce the number of equivalent units needing to be produced, rather than simply providing the materials for a remanufacture. If one were of a conspiracy-minded bent, one might almost think that manufacturers of consumer goods with connections in government didn't want that to happen or something...)
Just got a Megafire pad for my miggy. I have to open it up, but if there's enough space inside, I'll probably remove the cord and convert it into wireless (got some spare 2.4GHz chips laying around ;))
Enjoy!
I was thinking of using a small microcontroller, like an AVR Tiny, to read the status of buttons, and then simply serialize and send through the transmitter chip. Attached to the Amiga there would be a recevier and also a microcontroller, which would de-serialize the data and output it to the joystick port.
Enjoy!
EDIT
Just got the auto mount cd drive for the A1200, the best it seems are the ones for the imac G5 so thats what I bought.
Recieved the slim cd to 40 pin adapter today, and so I put it altogether roughly and bingo works straight off the bat great stuff!
I think the best mount for it is just behind the floopy drive seems to fit perfect, would have liked to put it left side but 4 x IDE adapter is in the way, unless I buy a flat IDE board, hmm decisions, decisions,
Then to cut the hallowed machine!:help:
