If worst comes to worst, the 5300 has an IDE hard drive, so it's a lot cheaper and easier to replace than the SCSI-based Macs. (Weirdly, though, the CD-ROM is a SCSI drive...go figure that one out!) I had one a while back; it's not a bad machine, but you'll definitely want to put more RAM in there if it came with the stock amount (16MB, I think?)Quote:

We have a Performa 5300 at home (It was my mother's first computer) -- As I recall, getting access to the logic board is trivial: Two screws at the back and the whole thing slides out. It takes standard 72-pin SIMMs, so upgrading it to 64MB is pretty simple.Quote:

Wow, never knew there was a flash cart for the Megadrive, just goes to show how much I have been keeping upto date with retr0 consoles though lol (really been more into old comps over the last few years).

Well, I've been having some trouble getting the cart to work tonight. I'm going to email the developer in a moment to see if he has any thoughts on the trouble I'm having. :)
The cost is definitely very good. Be aware that the seller does not accept PayPal. I ended up sending money through MoneyGram and it cost and additional $13 to do that. He also accepts bank transfers. :)
I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

*EDIT* I tried it in my second Genesis and it works like a charm. :) I think the problem with my older Genesis is that I'm using a third party power supply that doesn't have enough amps to run the system and the SD card on the Everdrive-MD. I'll give a more in-depth update once I use the cartridge for a bit.

Got in another haul on Sunday, going through all of it today! I gave the guy $50 for delivery of it.

Boxed stock Commodore A1200 with 80 meg drive- box is "generic" White/blue Commodore box (rough shape) -looks like just the "A1200 manual" is missing, all 3.0 disks, all other books, mouse there. nothing in expansion bay. Nice and white
Boxed Stock A500, has 2 1.2 disks (I believe on 2 disks were with 1.2) all manuals there, a tad yellowed, but not bad. Nothing in expansion bay.
Boxed Commodore branded 1084 monitor (white "generic" commodore box-good shape)
Yellowed Commodore C64C- just loose, no PS
3 Commodore 1541 drives- 1 regular, 2 1541C, 1 yellowed (manuals with- no boxes)
1 GVP DSS8+ with book disks etc.
1 generic External Amiga floppy.
6 assorted Joysticks
Software:
Besides about 500 Amiga floppies (including at least 3 BBS packages), I have found 4 Vic 2o carts, 3 Vic 20 Cassettes, another 100 or so C64 floppies (including a few BBS packages)
Books and boxed games:
A bunch of assorted hardware manuals, Sim City for the Amiga, Wayne Gret. hockey, TV sports football, Tennis Cup.
I still have a few more boxes to go through, but looks like 50 DEMO disks (spaceballs etc)

Wow! That's quite a haul. I might be interested in getting some of that BBS software from you if it is still readable. I'm thinking of running a BBS on my Amiga again for fun. :D

There's still quite a lot of BBS software available on Aminet. I used TronBBS (now to be found as TrionBBS) in the past - it's a shareware package very much like and compatible with Xenolink. It's written by a Dutch guy who still does some Amiga work - maybe you can still obtain a keyfile from him!Quote:

Sonic & Knuckles brings up that screen if you plug a non-Sonic game into the pass-thru connector on the cartridge (It's designed for Sonic 2 & Sonic 3 to plug in to it)Quote:

Thanks AndyLandy! I actually figured out from the video that it was a pass-through cartridge like you said. The sad thing is that I think I actually have the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge so I should have known that! LOL!
I didn't know about the special stage though. I wonder if I can use the pass-through cartridge with the Everdrive-MD... Could be a neat experiment. :D

LOL! I actually went to the used game store at lunch and grabbed this cart to gut for my Everdrive-MD. It's got two screws that hold it together and will be very easy to modify. :D I'm going to make an Everdrive-MD label for the cart and I'll share it here in case anyone else buys one.

Igor is also doing an N64 Cartridge, its still early days yet but fingers crossed he will produce it for a similar price. That's wonderful! I really like it so far. I still haven't tried the SMS or 32X games yet, but I'll be doing that a little later tonight. :) In answer to your question, he sent the package on May 21 and I received it yesterday, so it took less than two weeks!
I just finished modifying the case from the game I bought earlier and it turned out really good. The push button switch make it a tight fit in the case, but the case still closes pretty well. There's a surface mount LED that lights up during SD card access so I made a hole in the front of the case for light. The SD card slot I cut is just a little too long on one end, but all-in-all I'm happy with it. :D I also got to use my new Panavise and it worked great!
I know he's working on an N64 adapter and I hope that it's as good a deal as this card. I sent an email to the RetroUSB people who make the PowerPak products and asked if they had any plans for an N64 cartridge and they said they were thinking about it.
I also ordered a 1541U-II and I'm very excited to get it. :D Let us know how you like the Everdrive-MD.

OK! I just finished my label. :D I haven't tried printing it yet, but I'll do that tomorrow. Let me know what ya think! I set the label to print at 300 Pixels Per Inch.

Well, I slacked off a little bit at work this morning and finished putting the label on my Everdrive-MD. I had to adjust the image I created a little, making it a little taller. The "Everdrive-MD" on the very top of the label was too close to the edge, as you'll see on my cartridge, but I adjusted it a little and here's the latest version. I'm not going to bother printing a new label with these adjustments since the one I put on my cartridge is good enough. :D

If I ever get something like this I would certainly think of doing the same, it would atleast give me a good excuse to brush up on my CS2 skills. :)

Thanks tokyoracer! I probably won't do a tutorial of any kind as far as modding a case or making a label since it's really not too difficult. I made my label 300 pixels per inch. If you just use the dimensions from the label I made then print it out at that print ratio then it should fit perfectly on your cartridge. :)
I printed it on a Dell Color Laser printer. Our Dell printer seems to do much better color than any of our HP Color Lasers do. I used 3M Super 77 spray adhesive on the back of the paper to attach it to the cartridge.

I call that £xx well-spent! The A1200 is an AT 1200HD one with 3.1 ROMs and a 170MB disk, warranty seal is still intact, too!

@AndyLandy - We don't seem to have finds like that where I live. The cheapest I have seen an A1200 go for locally was 200 bucks. And to top it off, I have never seen one at a Garage sale (yard sale, car boot sale). The last thing I saw at a garage sale was a commodore 64c and the guy thought it was worth 600 bucks! Yeah right.

I decided to have a bit of a play with the A500 this morning, didn't have a lot of time before work, but had enough to take a quick peek.
I've not been able to get inside (Don't have a suitable Torx head screwdriver ... yet) but she powers up and looks to be working well. I was surprised to be greeted with a Kickstart 3.1 boot prompt! Someone's obviously been in there before me and installed a new ROM.
She's got a 1MB-capable "half-ECS" Agnus and an OCS Denise with 512k Chip and 512k "slow fast" -- although there's nothing in the trapdoor, so the additional RAM must be soldered to the board. Did any A500s come like that, or is it an aftermarket upgrade?
Cripes Andy, that's a damn good haul, I wish I could just find a Magic box for my 1200. :(
These aren't retro I know, but over the last week I have upgraded my PC with a 500Gb SATA-II drive (uber cheap at £36 from Aria) and a two week old 1Gb :wooha: ATI Radeon HD5450 PCI-E graphics card, for the princely sum of £30 from my younger son.
These have given my machine some much-needed oomph...:woot:

I have a friend who works at a machine shop sometimes, I'm trying to get him to make me some custom metal standoffs to mount the CSPPC securely, and I'll see what he can do about a heatsink... :D
you can also use teflon threaded spacers , like I did... no need to make metal ones :)
