So, a good friend I work with asked me last week.
"You are into retro computers ?" (Is the Pope Catholic ?)
"I found my old Spectrum in the Garage, Would you like it" (Again...Is the Pope Catholic ??:Doh:)
And today he brought this in... :D
Quick reshape of the Microdrives tape guide & all working perfectly
Thought I would share it with you
TC :)
I just received my 1541U-II in the mail today! Wow! What a neat device. I can't wait to delve into it. :D

Installation
Take the 1541 Ultimate-II and carefully slide it into the cartridge slot of your C=64.
Welcome to the club SkyDivinGirl :)
The 1541U-II is one of the best accessories I've ever bought, I truly love it :)
Aww! Thanks!
LOL! I know what everyone here likes. :p
I am really excited about it. I have to original 1541U and it's a really great device. I decided to get the second version because of the new features and more compact design. I also like it for the simple fact that it comes with a case! It's not a perfect case but it is so much better than no case at all.
Heather
Nice piece of kit SDG:cool:, Zeets is right it's pure unadulterated filth
I like it even more though because you are going to send me your old one now :p
TC
LOL! I bought a "Cheap" acrylic case for my original 1541U that was $60! I don't think I'd ever be able to get back what I paid for the 1541U with case. :) I'm also keeping it for use in my SX-64.

I'll write a review of the 1541U-II once I have some time to play around with it.
Ciao!
Heather
I am still to cheap ass to buy the 1541U, let alone that amount for a small case.
Anyhow the case looks fantastic :thumbsup: I must admit that part.. The 1541u is probably also very interesting unit.
I am hoping the chameleon comes live (the one with vga etc)
@SDG
SX64 as well ---- you really know how to rub it in dont you girl :p
TC
^^^
That's quote contest material, that is! Fnarr!! :rofl3
Yay glad your 1541U-II turned up safely, I thought I would check the status of mine and it was shipped today!!!
I am looking forward to read your review while I wait for delivery of mine!
Sadly not for me.
It along with a gift card is a birthday present for my brother.
If you think the 1541U is expensive then just wait for the pricing on the Chameleon! :) I think it's going to be about twice the cost of the 1541U from what I've heard so far.
@TC
Sorry, didn't mean to do that. :D I'll watch what I say from now on. :p
That's great news! I hope yours arrives very soon. :) I may try it out tonight. I've been busy cleaning the house most of the day.
Ciao!
Heather
I've had a 1541U for 2 years (I got the same case as you too SDG). As soon as Gideon makes the 1541U-II work with ethernet then I may get one just because it's smaller... but the only thing the 1541U-II has that the original doesn't is a real time clock.. Time will tell if there is anything worthwhile written for the larger fpga though.
Not to sound like a doomsayer or owt (:p) but I couldn't live without my ethernetted 1541U.
1541-II does look nice and compact though :)
@TC: some people with so much, other people with nothing at all... You get my envy, sir!
Yeah, that said by a guy with 13 Amigas a t home...
And worst than that: drunk!
Again!
So? :p
Received an Apollo 1230 Turbo Lite with 8 megs on it from forum member hikey.
Works better than its suppose to, too!
:o
At the Retro Computer Games Festival, I managed to pick up a mint condition A1200 :o
I traded a Master System MkII (the one that was listed on here), some SMS games, some Megadrive games and a Dreamcast game (Typing Of The Dead) for this lot:
- boxed A1200, in mint condition .... it's a white as a brand new one from the shops when they were released! however, no PSU
- four big box games (well 3 games and one proggy) in a promotional pack that came with the A1200 when it was bought new
- Pinball Dreams
- Zool
- Striker
- Transwrite
so I reckon I did well
Pictures to follow .............
My A1500 just arrived..
The California Access Card is for Tahoe.. the disk is probably a 240megs drive, Kickstart switcher, Serial/Parallel card.
It's a simple A1500, no accelerator in this one though original 5 1/4" blinding plate it seems like :-)
Now all I have to do is plug it in and test the Malibu card works ;-)
Added some more pics..
anyone know what that pcb board is at the last pic ?
and yeah.. signs of battery leakage :-(.. going to be fun to clean up though :-)
edit: its a good day..
Mini megi chip, Indivision AGA, Indivision ECS just arrived :-)
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....double goodness arrived today :)
^^^^
Nice stuff! My only Indivisioned system is my A4000D. I still use my A1200 on a 1084S. :D
Heather
@blankstare
Where'd you get the Indivision's I been looking around and no one has stock of them? they are like rocking horse doo doo at the mo.
www.amigakit.co.uk
IF they have any left....and thats a big IF lol
I had another one of those "Oh, Andy, you like Amigas, right? Do you want some more?" (Pope, Bears, Catholic, Woods?)
http://www.proggle.net/%7Eandrew/download/A500plus.jpg
The A500+ amazingly still works, despite the warranty seal being intact. I'll have to split it soon though, since I want the battery out ASAP) although the floppy drive appears to be dead (Meh, easily replaced) -- Shedloads of software that I'll have to dig through (That reminds me, I owe Harrison all the boxes for ClassicAmiga)
Of course, that's all well-and-good, but check this badboy out!
http://www.proggle.net/%7Eandrew/download/GVP-A530.jpg
Now that's what I'm talking about! A boxed GVP A530? VERY NICE! (OK, so this isn't mine to keep, but I've been loaned it to play with, more-or-less indefinitely) :woot::woot::woot:
well andy that a nice mate you have
I just hauled through my door ...
an A3000T unit, Almost broke my back, damm are those things HEAVY.
I will post up pictures later. Right now, the only things I know for sure on the unit:
It is mostly stock, no CD rom drive.
It has 2 floppy drives, both can format disks...
It had 2 Hard drives in it, 1 Is a humongous 600 Meg rive, but physically it takes up the WHOLE drive bay area up at the front -middle part of the tower ( guess that would be the size of 2-5 1/4 bays..
I was given the unit, and the old owner went through it with me this afternoon, it had not been booted since about 92, and the key and lock had to be replaced, luckily he had the A3000 Service manual with it.
The battery is good, but I will be changing it right away.
It has a full 16 Megs of Ram.
What is unusual to a nob like me, is it has the original 2.xx roms, but it soft kicks into OS 3.1
I am very hesitant to wipe the drives, as it is full of "stuff" and will take me hours to go through.
One thing was cool, is when he said his monitor died long ago, so I just hooked up his IBM 17 inch Flat pannel to it. He swore it will never work, and it worked great.
There is no Accelerator card, and I do not know what Buster revision it is yet, but I am assuming it is just a plain "7" in it.
Words cannot describe what I feel right now, the best of all it was free.
It just is so HEAVY.........
Nice one, thats quite a machine! The LCD probably works becuase the A3000 has a built in scan doubler IIRC =)
Looking forward to the pics, I wouldn't wipe the HDD's as you say in case there are any rare demo's or anything on them, instead preserve them as they are and replace with CF-IDE or modern HDD's.
Enjoy, this should be a great project
Steve.
You lucky son of a gun, i'd kill for an A530. :ninja:
I got a Philips NMS-8250 MSX2 computer yesterday. The case reminds me of a VCR and, to some extent, of the CDTV. An in-depth review with more pictures will be up later.
@Protek: the keys need an urgent Retr0bright treatment, otherwise, awesome!
Ok, here are some pictures of the 3000T.
It is a rev. 6.1 Motherboard.
It has 3 drives in it, one hidden in the top 5 1/2 inch bay, like I said that 600 meg drive is huge.
I did not do a complete teardown for time today, that will come later, when I can swap that battery out. I will have more of a complete teardown on the blog later, I just am having too much fun trying to find out everything on it.
BTW does anyone know where I can download a "Directory Opus" Ver. 4 tutorial for noobs. I know just the very basics and I would love to dive in more too it.
Also, the 1084S monitor just sucks on this machine, but, I will find something way better soon.
Very nice.
My 1541 Ultimate ii just turned up, looking forward to hooking it up!
Also picked up a boxed Nintendo Virtual Boy with Mario Tennis
Good Times
@gazcbm
Nice! I hope you enjoy the 1541U-II. I really like the case but noticed mine looks a bit marred up, like yours does as well. Gideon says that the only way to even open the case is to destroy it. :( Oh well, it's much better than no case at all!
I have wanted to pick up a Virtual Boy at some point but won't unless I get an incredible deal on it. :) Good stuff!
Heather
Yeah it was the first thing that I noticed. Its a shame as well given the thought and planning that went into the case design. I havent used mine just yet and will probably wait for the firmware update, but I also read that there is a potential issue with using this on a SX64 which I was hoping to do. Have you heard or tested this being an SX owner yourself?
I actually had my SX64s out this weekend because I was not sure of the working state of them. I knew I had one that turned on but had garbage on the screen. I ended up getting three of the four working properly, using parts from the broken one, but there are still a few small problems with two of them (on one, the disk doesn't pop out when the drive is opened and on the other there is a problem with the cartridge port and a few keys don't work, even with a good keyboard).
I haven't actually tested the 1541U-II on my SX64 yet either. I had the same thought as you to use that in my SX64 since it fits and looks better than the original 1541U. I'll give it a try though and let you know what I find out. :)
Heather
I love looking through the pictures of what people have acclaimed... this should be stickied (if that correct English)
I got an Elenco LP-560 logic probe. It has leds for hi and low states, a led and audio for pulse and a selector for TTL/CMOS.
Now I'm going to get to the bottom of what's wrong with the SVI-728.
