FOUND - RAM for Amiga 4000 Desktop

Hi all,

Does anyone have 1x2mb Chip and any Fast Ram sticks that would work on an A4000 please?

I have 4 x 4Mb 72 pin Simms here. You can use an 8Mb Simm for the 2Mb Chip Ram afaik. I have one of these too.

John & I are discussing one or two things RE A4KD Ram. :D

Although some 8MB modules work as 2MB Chip ram, not all of them do. Make sure they are double sided, NON EDO modules, that will significantly increase your chances.

I *THINK* I might have found some original toshiba 2MB modules but I won't be sure until I get my SIMM tester back...

The Chip Ram solution I have offered John is indeed an 8Mb double sided one with 4 chips. They work fine in an A4KT as Fast Ram, so there shouldnt be a problem. ;)

Still waiting to hear back from the fella. :)

Just sent payment off for the Ram. If it turns out for any reason that the 8mb won't work as 2mb Chip I will let you know Tahoe (but I'm sure it will be fine as per Kin's note).

I'm really looking forward to getting my A4000 as it's coming from a friend who has stuck a sweet video card into it, a CD Rom drive and a CF solution that lets me put the cards in to a rear mounted slot! The RAM is the last piece of the Jigsaw. I'll post pic's when I get it home. What an amazing machine to get as I really only want it for WHDLoad gaming lol - plus who doesn't want an A4000!

The same friend will be selling his fully working high end Amiga one very shortly so I hope everyone on this site has a look for interest.

RE Email notification on AmiBay, it's totally Fubar m8y. Apparently, things are already in hand to resolve the matter once & for all. If you have any concerns in the meantime, I'm sure the Senior Dev Staff will be more than happy to explain.
