Cyberstorm MkIII Red Screen

Hi Peeps.

Looks like I've wasted another bunch of cash :Doh:

Maybe time to give up with Classic Amiga's?

Anyway, I got a CSMkIII from a chap of at a.org a few weeks ago and it finally arrived today so I installed in my A4000T and it booted first time, I thought yay but it complained about the lack of 'workbench.library' since I was just booting WB3.1.

So I went to WinUAE and copied that onto my CF. Next time I tried to boot I just get a red screen and then black screen, it's done this since the last 10 or so attempts :(

(it does this even without the CF or any HDD connected so not related to the file I copied to libs)

Of course the first thing I tried was to reseat the Kickstart but this didn't help, finally I tested another CPU and the A4000T boots as normal, so I guess the issue is with the CSMkIII, anyone have any idea's?

Next I thought about MapRom, but that is set in the boot menu which of course I can't access :coffee:

Anyone else have this issue before?

I would test in an A4000D but this MkIII is a bit strange, the PCB hasn't been trimmed down, so I don't think it would fit in a Desktop!

Don't know anything about these boards, but have you tried swapping the memory out for some other sticks?

I just found the fault, I should have said before I already tested new Ram :whistle:

Anyway, looks like it's the classic 060 socket needs resoldering, I just put some pressure in the heatsink and she booted straight up :Doh:

I think I've used up all my credit with Stachu though lol

It can go in a box till I decide what to do with it :lol:

me too (with my CS3)

Could it just be dirty pins on the 060 ? ...or the main connector ?

I think it is bad contact in the part of socket

I read that the solder joints in the socket crack.

Will need to get a new socket soldered at some point which is not what I had in mind for this project lol
