OK, I just tried the 8Mb expansion on my friends A600 ... it is acting exactly the same as on my A600, i.e. :
Jumper on 1.5 Mb - I get 0 Mb Fast ram reported
Jumper on 5.5 Mb - I get 4 Mb Fast ram reported, Guru with anything I load
Jumper on 4 Mb - I get 4 Mb Fast ram reported, stuff seems to work fine
Jumper on 8 Mb - I get 8 Mb Fast ram reported, same stuff that doesn't work on my A600 doesn't work here either
So it is defiently faulty expansion. I hope I can get a replacement board from kipper soon. PM is on the way.
I bought the expansion 8mb . Works perfectly . The board is very well made . Great seller.
Hi,
interested to a A600 8MB board. Sending PM.
Hi kipper2k 8meg board runs like a dream in my A500+ will it fit in a cdtv
Hi Kipper2K ,
A600 8MB board arrived today morning :)
thx a lot for another fantastic item ,
works great and looks perfect :D
Glad to hear :). The A600 is my favourite Amiga for basic gaming with WHDload

The autoconfig can be turned off for use on the CDTV and memory can be added manually (needs a different coding on the PLCC. I can provide a PLCC with the non autoconfig coding for those that want it
see this post for details. (Thanks to Stryker:)

Hello Kipper/fellow amibay members,
I received my A500 8MB ram board & cpu reloacation adapter last Thursday...YAY!!! (1st package kipper sent is presumed lost in post) :(
I had a crack at fitting it yesterday but didn't get any further than removing the CPU from my motherboard. That was a bit of a pain to start with as it had been in there for 23 years and didn't want to budge. With a flatblade screwdriver and a generous amount of WD-40 down each side of CPU pins it loosened up and lifted out quite easily. :)
So, I thought that this would be plug & play but it doesn't apear to be in my case. It would seem that with the cpu reloaction adapter in place (complete with the riser pins underneath that came with it) it would still not clear C307 and C816 on my motherboard (revision 6A) by a fair amount.
C307 is too tall, and C816 will not bend any further without actually damaging the capacitor (if I bent it it would pull the pins out from the capacitor a bit because there's not enough clearance from the motherboard). Please see attached photo's...
It looks like I may have to do some surgery on my motherboard. Has anyone else here came across this problem on a 6A? I have an ide68k to fit as well but I wanted the cpu adapter in place first because I want to keep the level of connections/disconnections to a minimum to preserve the sockets. Does anyone know for sure whether the adapter is needed with the ide68k (v402)? I suppose I could put the adapter ontop of the ide68k...but it's kind of defeating the object. Does anyone know for sure whether or not a v402 ide68k and a kipper ram expansion can co-exist without the need of the relocation adapter + still having the upper rf shielding in place? Cheers
Some boards will require a bit of surgery due to the caps being soldered on the board with no slack. Remove them carefully by applying heat to the pins underneath the motherboard and then wiggle it bit by bit till it is off.
You then have a couple of choices, replace the cap with a new one or use wires to extend the legs of the caps so it can lay down.
Using the IDE68K and the fastmem board together on the CPU socket will cause the height to interfere with the case closing so an adapter should be used to relocate the board(s) to the back of the case.
Edit: i am in the process of building a combined 4mb/8mb/IDE board for the A500 it will require 2 jumpers and i am at the mailing off the design stage of the process. Providing i didn't mess up then i will offer it for sale. I am moving next month so i may not have time to finalise this till at least the end of October... I am heading South where the winters are only -35 deg C :)
