I got one of the A500 8MB boards for my A1000 in last week and it's just awesome. Thanks much kipper2k!
Hi Kipper2k,
I'm declaring interest in the following and have sent you a PM:
1 x Amiga 500 8MB FAST RAM board
1 x Amiga 500 CPU Adapter
Hi Kipper, just confirming my order for the following:
A504 ram board
Dual a500 flash rom
S-video display adapter
Cf-IDE adapter (when ready)
Cheers dJOS
Hi are there any A500 8mb board still for sale?
hi Kipper2k declare interesting for 1 8mb configurable new card for A600
and 1 4mb A600 OLD batch if exist
i send money for A600 8MB memmory configurable :)
for the moment i don't interesting for 4mb maybe later
because i have second Amiga 600;)
Hello Kipper.
I have received the shipment and tried it out yesterday evening. It seems to work, but I seem to be having problems with 8Mb configuration.
When I select the 4Mb configuration everything works fine - All WHDLoad games that I have work perfectly well without ANY problems.
When I select the 8Mb configuration with dip switches then about 20% of the installs report 800000B error (i understand this means the program is accesing the odd addresses) - this is regardless of how the games are loaded. The games load fine under 8Mb in WinUAE identical configuration !
Both memcheck and checkmembh programs say the ram is OK - no errors found.
Also note that the PCMCIA slot is EMPTY and it doesn't interfere with the ram.
This happens whatever I do - I re-seated the memory expansion, etc. and every time I get the same results. I tried booting without startup sequence and the same happens.
Here is a link to three of the installs that do this, if anyone else can check them I would be greatfull. NOTE: You must use the preload switch so whdload loads all files i.e. :
whdload cadaver.slave preload
whdload anotherworld.slave preload
whdload stellar7.slave preload
I tried using whdload 16 and 17 - both have the same problem.

Thanks my friend Kipper2k!!!!!!!:)
i received my card and working !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with stability on whdload games i try many of them with 5.5 mb and 8mb configuration (in my amiga 600 i working with PFS3 partition under 1GB the CF is 2GB TRASCEND 133x)
i tel this because i have already(not from you) nedo design fast memmory 8mb without jumper but crash after little time i think the problem is mabe from cpu socket :unsure:is not the quality like yours;)
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
Can someone confirm whether the A500 board works and physically fits in A2000? And would the RAM conflict with RAM on 2091 controller? Thanks.
I would really like one of the 8mb boards for the CDTV but I'm getting conflicting reports as to whether it works or not.
The problem seems to be that the CD-ROM is disabled if the board is populated with 8mb.
Are you planning on adding the 8mb A600 memory switching to the A500 8mb board?
If it is the 8mb causing the issue then I could switch to 4mb to use the CD-ROM and use the 8mb for e.g. WHDload games.
@kipper2k
Hi my friend :)
Items received days ago. Very sorry for the delay updating the thread
Not tested, but everythig seems to be OK :)
Feedback on this way
I did some more checks with my A600 8Mb board and I cannot get the 5.5Mb or 1.5mb configuration to work at all. I tried reseating the board, tried fastening it to the board with the screws, nothing helps..
Config 5.5 reports 4Mb available and doesn't work reliably (whdload crashes). Config 1.5Mb gives me actual 0Mb of ram (thats whats reported). Config 8 reports 8Mb available and works even less reliable :(. With 4Mb config I get 4Mb but some whdload installs don't work when they work perfectly fine in winuae with the same configuration.
With 5.5 config I get the following output from memcheck:
Testing expansion memory ($00200020-$005ffffff) ... no errors found
Testing chip memory ($000000420-$000fffff) ... no errors found
Skipping private memory ($00000400-$00d7fffff).
With 1.5 config I only get the Testing chip memory and Skipping private memory outputs...
I can make pictures tommorow... would really appretiate some customer support here kipper, since I cannot use this memory expansion as intended. Getting desparate here :(
Hi Tom-Cat ,
installed this 8 MB Board without any main issues in an A600 , works perfect with 1,5 / 4 / 5,5 and 8 MB .
Only one little exception , if you want to use a flashcard adaptor on the pcmcia port you have to choose the 5,5 MB instead of the 8 MB option , cause this disable the pcmcia port .
But WHDLoad works perfect on this little one , without a doubt :)
So finally i think some other things with your A600 went wrong
Why ? everything else works fine with my A600, I am not sure why would the A600 be a problem ?
The expansion I got definetly has problems since with 1.5 Mb I actually get 0Mb reported, with 4Mb I get whdload problems, with 5.5 Mb I get 4Mb reported (and see the memcheck report in previous post where it says that some memory is "private" and is skipped - same for 1.5 Mb) with 8Mb I get huge problems with programs and games not running at all. I think it is faulty expansion, since I don't see how anything else could be a problem. If someone has any other ideas please tell me (Kipper ?).
May you post your crashed WHDLoad screens to analyse your problem ?
Of course it is possible to get a faulty one , but youŽll only get some certainty by installing this board in another A600 .
Old school programs like sysinfo and so on reports , for example , only 4MB instead of 5,5 MB ,thats right .
Based on a lack of interest for smaller Amigas , the edited one was for a friend ,but without a doubt the WHDLoad program worked great , tested it with more than 40 games , nothing crashed .
Naturally , because of an absence of 68010 or better , you will get some restrictions on WHDLoad , but thats logical .
Ok, here are the pics :
1.5 Mb config - gives me 0 fast memory, with some strange "private" memory:
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/15mb1.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/15mb2.jpg
4 Mb config. Works the best of them all, but still some games don't work when they should :
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/4mb1.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/4mb2.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/4mb3.jpg
5.5 Mb config: Gives me 4Mb fast memory with some strange private memory (the same is reported by all programs I tried ... only 4mb). Note that almost ALL whdload games report the same GURU error below !
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/55mb1.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/55mb2.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/55mb3.jpg
8Mb config... reported as 8Mb, works for around 80% of WHDLoad games that work fine in 4Mb config, the rest all report same Error as below !!!
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/8mb1.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/8mb2.jpg
http://pc.sux.org/tomcat/A600/8mb3.jpg
This is the best I could do... NOTE that this A600 had the capacitors replaced and is working perfectly otherwise, haven't had any problems with other expansions in it.
I would really like some customer support from Kipper or anyone else on this subject, since everyone else doesn't have any problems with this. But as pictures show I DO have problems ! :(
You do realize that many games crash in whdload on 010/68k cpu's anyway because they where ported for the a1200's 020 CPU?
I found this when I had a pimped out 500+ and so I sold it and bought an a1200 for whdload and haven't had any issues since.
I built a more standard 500 with a HxC to play classic disk games and that is IMO a much better solution for ECS gaming than whdload on an a600.
@kipper2k
Hi my friend :)
Don't forget to send feedbacks (positive or negative) to buyers
Come on... of course I know that. Please check my posts and you will see that there is a problem with the memory configuration and the whdload games I am testing either work on 68000 identical configuration in winuae (Yes, I know that winuae could still have a bug that would make them work but people said it is very unlikely) OR they work in 4Mb configuration and don't work in 8Mb one.
If you check the pictures above you will see what I mean - the 1.5 and 5.5 configuration do not work AT ALL. There are quite a lot of games that don't work in 8Mb configuration and work fine in 4Mb configuration. ALSO - since the posting I have been playing a few games (on 4Mb config) and some of them Crash in the middle of gameplay and similar. I am not saying that ALL winuae games should work... but this is VERY strange behaviour.
Kipper - it has been a long time now since I reported this and there was no customer support so far. I would hate to give negative feedback :(
@Tom-cat just making sure.
I got an email from kipper this morning, he was just leaving to go to Winnipeg and I'm sure how long he'll be there.
I suspect he got overloaded with the 1000 project and is still catching up.
@kipper2k...
Got the a500 8mb today. Thanks. Very nice. But...got a bit of prob with the A500 8mb and the A570 CD on my A500+. I'll keep it simple.
With Kickstart 1.3 I just get a continous reboot on startup. With Kickstart 2.0 I get a "Device Bad" relating to the A508...but will still boot into WB with 0mb from the 8mb board. Those two results are with the A570 turned on or off.
With the A570 completely disconnected, and the 8mb board installed, it shows 8mb.
The A570 by itself works fine when the 8mb board is not fitted.
Seems the two don't like each other when both connected
Anyone with similar problems?
Any workaround? Is it possible to disable some of the RAM?
BTW...this is not a dig at Kippers' device at all. I understand these things happen and there may not be a fix.
@mods
If you wish to move this into it's own thread...do what you do
mine works fine with my 600 however the socket did break on me
@Astral
I have the same problem when I have my A590 (with or without RAM installed) and the A508 board plugged in at the same time.
There's probably an address conflict with that A500 expansion port and addressing 8MB of RAM.
Has anyone tried running the A504 with an A590 (with or without RAM) or A570 with success?
Now if only I had some way of throwing a CF card in my A500, I could sell off the A590. :D
Cheers,
ck
@astral
I just ran SysConfig with my A508 installed and noticed the board address is $200000. This is the same addresses that was used by my A590 so that explains whys A590 doesn't work with the A508 installed.
Cheers,
ck
Hi kipper,
I found this among the schematics for the CDTV
Hope it helps.
Arnie.
Got my a504 and S-Video adapter today Kipper and they work great, much appreciated and feedback has been left. :)
Any1 knows when kipper will be back ? As I said I would hate to be the first to post bad feedback, but it has been almost a month without ANY feedback to my A600 8Mb expansion not working properly...
Knowing hes away any unable to respond then posting bad feedback is hardly fair is it??
Have you tried sending him a PM as well? Brian's a straight up honest guy, he will sort this out my friend. I realise you have waited almost a month but real life can get in the way sometimes, kipper will sort it out because hes a decent person :)

I did reply to you on this issue,
If the memory is passing the Memory checks then i do not know what the issue can be. There may be timing issues that are affecting this. If you are not happy with it then mail it back to me and i will refund you.
kipper: Yes, the memcheck program reports the RAM is ok in 4 and 8 Mb configurations. At that time I haven't tried the 1.5 and 5.5 configurations AT ALL. After that message I also tried those two and you can see the results in this thread... With 1.5 Mb I don't get ANY ram at all and with 5.5 Mb I get 4Mb reported but nothing works with it (I ALWAYS get crashes). Please recheck this thread and comment on what I could do - I do NOT want to send it back and refund - I would like to have it working as it should and as it was supposed to :(
PM sent for A600
Hi I want an expansion to Amiga600. Shipping to Brazil.
---------- Post added at 09:41 ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 ----------
The maximum memory is 4mb?
There is expansion with 8mb memory for A600? thank you.
I have an A600 8 MB from NEOPC and I jumpered to 5.5 MB and I works without problems. I haven't tested yet with 8 MB.
@Tom-Cat : Have you set the maxtransfer rate to 00x1FE00?
When I first use a fast RAM memory expansion the A600 crashes almost every game in WHDLoad.
I will test my expansion if I als have this problem.
Payment sent for A600 8 meg card.
Check this post and the few after it.

Hi klipper,
2 questions for you:
1) do you have any news about your A500 ide+RAM project?
2) does the a500 8 mb board have a switch for 4mb-8mb selection? Is it still avaiable?
Thanks in advance
:interested: on 8MB fastram board for Amiga 600. I sent you PM.
EDIT : Payment sent. Thanks in advance.
