CF cards problem

Hi,
I've got two Platinum 4GB CF Cards that were formatted with Workbench 2.1 and Kickstart 37.350. I upgraded my A600HD to Kickstart 3.1 and I tried to format the CF cards for installing Workbench 3.1. There were two partitions, two GB each, one named "Workbench" and one "Work". The computer seems to complete the procedure but at the last second it display the "Not a valid dos disk" error message. I tried to format the cards with Windows XP, using HDDLLF for low level formatting but it doesn't resolve the problem. It's a little bit frustrating, also thinking that if I would to change the Kickstart in my other Amiga, probably I would have the same problem. Anyone have a solution before I throw them into the trashcan? :help:

I tried to follow your .pdf guide on how to prepare CF/Hardrive with SFS, but when I click on EXIT for rebooting the system and formatting the partitions, the Workbench displays "Software Failure - DH0 Program failed (error #80000003). Wait for disk activity to finish.". :o
I tried the entire procedure with either my CF cards and the result was the same. Any suggestion?

opps sorry have you a600 got an cpu upgrade as sfs needs at least an 020

the other option is ffs

or Get PFS3 instead

or a a600 cpu upgrade

or get a cheap 1200

or wait for this

the ffs option is simpler tho

you need to change partitions back to ffs and keep the (mask f7777777e) (max transfere the same 1fe00)

Yes, I have an A600HD without any accelerators. I'm searching for an Apollo 630 or an ACA 630, but they're hard to find and I start thinking at the ACA 620, pretty soon it will be available.

i use mainly 1200s to expand so less hassle for me

Put the CF cards into your PC and do this:

1) Run Diskpart
2) Select Disk on the appropriate one
3) Select Volume on the appropriate one
4) Do a Clean All. (It will take a while so be patient)
5) create primary partition
6) exit Diskpart
7) Eject CF card and wait for windows to tell you its ok to remove it.

Put the CF card back into your Amiga

Use HDTools from a Workbench 3.0 boot diskette and try to partition and format it.

I had alot of trouble getting WB 3.1 to partition and format my 4GB CF cards. It would not recognize them.

For whatever reason, WB 3.0 worked flawlessly.

Try it and see if it works for you.
