Will you be offering assembled & tested boards for sale?
one for me, assembly my self
Is there any prices set yet?
PM sent for few units. :roll:
Price... Mmmmm, yeah good question but to me it is really secondary : I suspect it will NEVER go as high as the DENED are going these days...
Interested to see the new PCB though. :p
Ive been reading up a bit on the Thylacine and one thing im not quite sure of is how well does it work with keyboards ?
I would use it in my a4000d so i dont have to have more keyboards and mice on the desk, so im really only interested in mouse and keyboard functionality.
However some sites seem to suggest that the chips used on the thylacine has problems with keyboards.
Rino the genius of italian self soldering Amiga hardware ;)
Hope soon you will make a cyberstormppc with g5 CPU :D:D
Great Rino
Very soon I will open a FOR SALE thread. Initially I have 10 PCBs. They are high quality Made in Italy with golden plated zorro contacts.
Every PCB cost me EUR 37,00. I have think to sell a quite complete board:
- pcb;
- all ic sockets;
- programmed gals;
- all capacitors;
- all resistors;
- zener + transistor;
- all hints and how to install and configure software (via PM and/or email).
PCBs are electrically certified, because I have asked for electric tests. I will make the hard work to program GALs and to solder ALL mentioned components to pcb in professional way. Don't forget I have lost more time to understand how to convert jedec files from PAL format to GAL format.
To complete board, you have to buy the Thylacine KIT from Robert, one of developer of original board. He offer:
- metal bracked + screws;
- SL811HS chip;
- TPS2024 chip;
- 3 x 74xx chips;
- 12MHz crystal;
- USB connector.
Price of his kit is 30,00 Australian Dollars (23,95 EUR, at the moment), plus shipping.
To complete board is a joke, because you must insert all chips in respective sockets, solder USB connector, solder 12MHz crystal, and use the included screws to secure the metal bracket.
Max time required to do these operations is 10 minutes.
So to have a fully working NEW production board, you will spend:
- EUR 67,05 (including tracked shipping to Europe) for me;
- EUR 23,95 plus shipping for Robert.
Total is EUR 91,00, a good price for a NEW board that really works, because my stress tests ;)
Don't forget I'm opened to solve common problems and give hints :)
But board MUST work immediatly, don't worry :)
Rino
Well put me down for one complete board :-)
Well than one part from you and another part from down under :-)
Don't worry, insert some chips and make 6 solders is very very easy. Even my mother can do it ;)
This is Robert's kit. Square socket don't is needed because I will include it in my board.

Sounds good to me....
I will contact Robert to discuss his postage cost. Being a "local", there's surely some benefit for me... This time! :D
Uuum, maybe it's not a quite good idea, to produce a design with obvious problems... Well, I hope, you will be successful and everything is working fine.

High Quality PCB with golden plated contacts!
Soon a FOR SALE Thread!
Only 9 boards, for the moment, so you MUST be a FLASH!
interest, send pm
crasbe: what do you mean ?
Really great news... and great job!! As I said into a previous PM, I'm interested... now for a future production!
Oh, there are serval problems, I think.
Both USB-Lines (DP and DM) are too far away from each other. The idea of differential potentials is missunderstood. If DP is high, DM is low; when DP is low, DM is high.
This behaviour protects the data against electromagnetical influences.
DM- and DP-traces are about 15cm long, but about 3mm separated from each other. Better would be about 1mm or less.
Also: Why is there no shielding on the opposite side of the traces? They are completely free to send and recive em-fields. Nearly no protection. :roll:
The power-supply is also not quite good IMHO. It's absolutely NOT state of the art. It is 70-80's style...
Also there are serval known fixes, you could edit it in the gerber-files.
There will be a new project, which is based on the thylacine design, but with new components. (Not directly my work.)
Greetings,
crasbe
Hello Crasbe, I think it's really great that the German community is working on a fixed and updated version of the Thylacine! I was wondering if you could tell us any updates about the project? Is there a working design ready to share that people can start to produce in batches now?
Another thing I have been wondering, has anyone been in contact with Gilles Pelletier, author of the Anaiis USB stack? Anaiis is ideal for low-end Amigas like A600s and A1200s with Subways, and would be very suitable for someone with an A2000 who doesn't have an accelerator or the RAM to run Poseidon. It's also regularly updated unlike Poseidon. Adding Thylacine support to Anaiis makes so much sense to me.
