Hi.
I just barely got arund to start sniffing on how
to install the at-bus 2008 in my a2000.
popped her in and hooked up a 80gb hdd and a
52x cdrom.
got the install floppy transferred from pc.
Tried that oktamount thingy and got in response that i should install a bcd controller.
anyone got some pointers for me for when i get off work?

Got a few updates...but still struggling and getting nowhere:picard
Been playing around with jumpers and testing the same jumper config in all zorro slots.
Other than what you see in the pictures, I get only red or white screen with no boot and no sound from floppy.

Hi mate, what is the full configuration of your A2000, which ROM version is on your AT-Bus?

The AT-bus is the only expansion.
The A2000 has kickstart 37.300 and is otherwise stock. Rev 6.2.
Have you tested the AT-Bus without memory expansion? The ZIP sockets are often a problem on these boards...
forgot to mention: all zip slots are empty and the two memory jumpers have been set correct all along :blased:
Only one jumper sets the memory to nothing! It is JMOFF, close this, and no memory will be used!
ahaa thanx...will have to try that after work tomorrow. My GF is going to London tomorrow morning, so I have a lot of time to test throughout the weekend :)
...Strange seeing the device with two different ID numbers and one of them marked BAD and the other OK...seen that before ?
yay someone else with this card who can`t get the ide bit working, so its not just me :)
according to the manual u need oktagonAT in the expansion draw then you can use HDtools
I going try get mine working after I put the A4000 back together and find out why the cd32 is reading some cds and not others

I've got one sitting in an A2000 and it worked like a charm last time used.
It used to be a KS 2.04 Amiga, with 2MB and a 500MB HD on the AT-Bus.
Last summer I upgraded to KS 3.1, 6MB and a ~ 20GB HD. I tried to use a CD-rom on the AT IDE header with a 3 connector IDE cable from the HD but that didn't seem to work. Eventually I got the system to boot from HD but the CD-rom wasn't recognised.
Because of other priorities I didn't do any extended testing, but my educated guess is that it should work with HD and CD on the AT-Bus header.
Just my 2 cents... Good luck with the testing.

now is there any chance you can tell me whats in the expansion draw and is your startup-sequence modified? also what device did you use when partioning the HD
I have a working one, too. Works great with a 1GB CF card and the octapussy roms...

bah...I'm not getting anywhere.
Tried the jumpers on and off in all slots again...and the card never shows up in boot menu. Can't see any damage to card or slots.
I really wanted this a2000 to replace the function my a500 has:
2MBchip, 8fast and whload with not so demanding games.....but looks like its not gonna happen, so I might as well buy an accelerator with scsi controller.
( wich I really can't afford with an a4000d coming this weekend )
Maybe the ROM is damaged! I could send you the latest version or a inofficial octapussy rom...

I am trying to install a 4GB CF with the AT-BUS 2008 and it doesn't work well. First partition seems to work ok (90MB), the 2nd one gives load errors (1.8GB) and the last one shows Disk name:NDOS (1,8GB)...
I used the PFS3DS filesystem...
I think I have to use the FFS...is it correct?
I also need the latest rom to be sure is not a ROM problem.

Have you tested it with zips on it?
Deal made with BindGerMan for ROM chips for my at-bus.
Did you mean both of us when you mentioned ZIP ?...I can't boot when my card is jumpered to activate the IDE controller...and when I jumper it to be able to boot....then I really can't do anything :)
not zip drive but zip memory! have you installed at least 4 chips to get 2 mb fastram?

I understood that The card will operate the IDE controller as long the the memory is jumpered to OFF ?...
If not...then I will also need zips with the new ROMs :)

It should work without any memory installed on it! I will test tomorrow with my AT-Bus 2008!

Mine works without ZIP memory, but shows read errors.

the rom posted at the link is the latest official rom for the at-bus. the octapussy has better support of removable media and supports lager hard disks...

My original ROM was dead.
Card works fine with oktapussyROM without any zips on it, but the only thing i managed yesterday, was to get a partition under 500MB formatted with the install disk for WB 2.1....and I could not boot from it after install.
I also have various bad block messages and inability to format the 4 disks I have available.( 40GB maxtor, 120GB maxtor capped to 32GB and 2 x 80GB western digital caviar)
I had the option to do the auto HDinstallation, but as the HDD I tried that on has 77500 sectors....it will take about 22 hours....and a 40GB partition won't work anyways.
I have the latest oktapussy.lha from aminet copied to floppy, but I must be missing something, because I can't figure out what to do with it....
You will not need the octapussy software as you have it already in your octapussy ROM! ;)

Ahaa, nice! Then its probably safe to presume my old disks are damaged, and that i shal try again with kickstart 3.1, new hdd and a cdrom tonight :)

And if you install your hdd with hdtools, you have to use the scsi.device as the device name is changed by the octapussy ROM! ;)

Having trouble with partitions over 1Gb.... getting " not a dos-disk" after format.
One time DH0 also was no longer a dos disk after formatting DH1 :(
Works great on those under 1GB...but too small to set up my games and stuff.
You are using KS 3.1 I assume?
Which file system do you use?
Hehe, no....kick2...my kick 3.1 should have been here by now.
Do you think that is the only problem ?
I used the FFS that is on the WB 2.1 install disk....FFS is the only filesystem I have ever gotten to work...so I'm sticking with it :)
Good question, afaik, Kick 2 should be able to handle 2 gb ffs partitions, but of course, there is a newer version in Kick 3.1!

Got my kick3.1 at last!
Same thing....can't format partitions bigger than 1024MB.
"not a valid DOS disk" at initializing the drive.
Tried with 5 different HDD's. 6,10,20,40 and 80GB. two of them are NOS.
under 1024MB works great. copying and extracting large files/archives. CDrom also working fine.
Dunno what to try next :/
...another thing: If I try to create and add another partition, after a couple partitions are set up and working fine with less than 1GB, then all partitions need to be formatted again.
Have not seen this with my 500,1200 or 4000.
