Hi all, I'd like to upgrade my Apollo 4040 (68040 @ 40 Mhz) CPU BOARD into apollo 4060 (with 68060 @ 50 Mhz) and need the eprom that need to substitute.
I'd like to buy the eprom or the bin/rom file (already have an eprom burner) if anybody have that.

First check if your Apollo have the 131 version of the MACH chips. Boards with the old 130 ones will not upgrade at all.
My card have MACH 130... so cannot upgrade the card? how to find 131 chips? That card using fully 68040 @ 40 Mhz, can I overclock it to 50 Mhz with a 100 Mhz crystal?
that SHOULD work with a good cooler, but it will probably need to switch jumper to async ram access.
I can burn an eprom for you, but with all mach130 chips its pointless.

Remember that those chips are a kind of huge programmable logic chip (it is a CPLD/PLA). The 130 is an ancient one, replaced by the faster 131 series (now both are obsolete, of course).
I assume there's no practical way of sucking the image off a Mach 131 and burning it on to another? Those Mach 131 chips aren't that expensive.Quote:

I believe due to protection schemes, you cannot just read the mach chips...
Leo is correct.
MACH chips, as other CPLD/PLA/FPGA/other programmable chips have a nice (or not-that-nice, pending in what side you are) internal protection scheme, which stops people to read the contents of those chips.
Only the person who have the code to throw inside the chip will know for sure what's inside.
Well, I will sell my apollo and buy a cyberstorm... that's the best solution! Thanks all!
Just for information: Jens Schoenfeld (the owner of Individual Computers) have the license, schematics and codes from Apollo boards.
He can sell you the necessary programmed MACH 131 chips, but if remember right, each chip will cost the humble sum of 50 Euro each (there are three chips on the board).
