GBA1000 New board production (V4)

Mods - not sure if to put this in here or elsewhere so please moved as is seen appropriate.

Basically we now have the go ahead to do a new run of revision 4 (030 based) of the GBA1000 board. This board will allow the indivision ECS flickerfixer to function among its many new features.

Kipper has managed to get a better quote than I have managed plus shipping is cheaper from Asia to the U.S than the UK.

The initial outlay would be approx $46 per board with an aim to order at the end of February. Once they have arrived a final invoice would be presented for shipment to your country. We are aiming for a minimum of 30 boards.

So please state if your interested.

To clarify these are plank pcbs which you must complete yourself with the help for the rest of the group for component sourcing. This doesn't come around very often so please state your interest.

Update * Now everyone has seen the shipping options payment will be taken from March 3th through to the 11th. You will pay $46 Canadian per board to kipper2k via paypal gift or plus $2 for standard protected whose address will be supplied. After the 11th of March no further pre orders will be available.

Paypal address will be supplied by the 3th of March. When you do so, in the paypal info you need to include the username and site you ordered from. Payment for shipping will be taken once the boards have arrived and you have decided how you want it shipped.*

No this is the 030 - the 060 won't be released for a while if ever.

Sounds interesting, where would one source the parts to build it? would we need a donor 1000 or 500 board or is it more complicated than that?

Some parts are hard to source...

But hopefully we'll get a parts list?

Please count me in for one Board :).

A donor AMIGA 500 would provide the connectors for the rear of the board and perhaps a few sockets if you want to recycle parts. The rest are new parts easily available from rs components or digikey.

Some parts are only available in multiples of 10 which is where working as a group will be key. Total cost to build the board will probably be between £150-£200 depending on how resourceful you and the group are. Kipper is trying his suppliers and is organising the actual board production.

For those who do buy you will be well supported.

There is a complete parts list and nothing has proven impossible to get. I am converting it to U.S and U.K friendly formats and putting together a build website.

Thats the minimum order of 30 boards achieved now which is excellent. The build manual is in German but I will translate it and place it on the build website for everyone to access. Moneys will be collected at the end of February. The more boards ordered the cheaper it gets for everyone normally.

Is it possible to order one more? If so, I'm interested in one board.

Going greater than 30 is fine. As was mentioned earlier i'll put in an order at the end of Feb. Due to the cost of these boards and the cash i would have to outlay, i'd need people to pay $45 before ordering so i don't get stuck with a lot of boards from people changing their minds. Deposits will obviously deducted from final cost.

I would probably be able to get a lot of components at a decent price but i encourage people to see if they can find deals etc. Any opportunity of saving money is the way to go, shared shipping to same countries etc

there will be a thread where people can post pictures etc, The first step is to go looking for an old A500 that you can cannibalize. (Oh, my heart aches at such a terrible thing to do).

Kipper - I was going to ask everyone to pay for the full cost of the board and then just pay shipping when they arrive with you? I don't want you to be out of pocket or lumbered with boards.

I won't pester people with money requests at the moment. There are other things that i can help with. For example, the 29F800 48 pin TSOP, i can buy it, program it and put on the board for people if they like as that would be the hardest IC to actually solder to the board.

there are still a few things to think through but progress is good.

I am interested in one of these if that is still possible.

They haven't been manufactured yet but this is possible once they have been depending on number of UK customers they could be shipped straight to me then distributed or picked up from me.

Payment will be taken end of feb.

I'm getting a good idea here, a good friend of mine would be up to this task, I'd give him a board as an added incentive

Complete boards won't happen, it would cost you over $500 if we had them factory populated in such limited quantities.

and 53 mainboard wouw i hope i can buy the parts ?

Once you have the hang of it you'll find the SMDs easy. I would recommend getting a decent SMD Reworking station.

Don't worry about the parts - you will be able to get them all. Links to retailers will be provided.
