I didn't think too highly of his soldering of the DB9 connector and the LM317 regulator, he spends way too much time applying heat to the heat sink of the regulator overheating it. He left too much bare wire on the DB9 and he should have secured the db9 connector in vise grips or something to stop it from wobbling. Ok, mine is not perfect either but he uses too much heat. I do have a question though .... the NTSC -11 Agnus you are discussing, does this need to be a pal version for those of us in Europe and if so is there one available ?

the Agnus' i bought were NTSC, i haven't found a big supply of PAL ones (yet). Georg has confirmed the NTSC ones work, i assume the PAL ones do ?. I think it is a good idea to make sure the system clock is socketed to allow for mucking about with

Europeans, if your interested they would be 6 euros plus postage which wouldn't be a lot as they can go as letters. There would be no VAT and no import fees for those in the EU. Postage would be no more than 2-3 euros at most.

Oscillator @ 3 euros.
I am still trying to hunt down the pal versions but word is out there's a lot of us building these boards and prices have been hiked accordingly, even for second hand editions.

The ones at Vesalia are reported as:

The pinout they use is identical to the 318069-10/11 ones.
I can verify a 318069-10/11 can replace a 390544-01/02, and the converse is probably true (there's a slight chance later rev A600s are partial to the 318069, but even so, it may not matter for the GBA1000).
This pinout is shifted from the pinout of the 318069-03 / 039 (8372B/AB) Agnus, which is indeed the Agnus presented in the schematics of the GBA1000 available at illuvatar's site.
But those are probably for a previous version of the GBA1000 and kipper2k's says v4 uses the 8375 variant, so the 390544 sounds like a good option.
thanks mate, I have a 390544-01. I guess all the info I had read on the rev1 had confused me on what angus the rev4 it took. I knew the rev4 had accepted a wider range but I thought it was the previous pinout of the AB/318069-03 version and friends.Quote:

AmigaGTI mentioned this board is compatible with a wider range of Agnus chips. The schematics for v4 from Brauns site are the ones to use. Ill have a look in a bit. At least it's socketed so we can try them out.
