Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Hi,
Of all the Blizzard cards you are selling which ones will go into the trapdoor of a desktop A1200?
TIA
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
To answer that question for you, the 1230 MK4 will be the only one you can happily run in the trapdoor of a standard A1200. The other two will be too hot, and normally an 040's heatsink will be too big to install it correctly.
BTW, welcome to AmiBay. :)
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
You can fit them all into the trapdoor but you can't close it because an 128 Mb module is just tooo big in case of the 1230/4 and 1260, you even need to put little rubber feet under the A1200. That's even what I did in the beginning with normal 32 Mb modules as I always felt it was getting too hot inside the little A1200 desktopcase  If you want I can supply an extra small simm module of 8 Mb or so, whatever I can find in my storage room
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Hi again,
Thinking about it I will go for the Blizzard 1230 MK4 (thanks Harrison) I'm not a power user unlike some of you guys out there
So if you want to email me or give me your email address so I can deposit money into your account for the board, my email address is dave@exabyte.org.uk BTW.
Thanks 8)

Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Sorry but I am going to the south of France for a week on holidays so I can only get back to you in more than a week. The good side is that all my hardware will still be for sale by then :D

Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Both 1230/4 and 1260 have been sold. The two packages are now ready to go to the post office. Only the 1240 stays here at the moment. Acutally also a lot of other cards but I need to sort that out later and do plenty of testing first
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Hi,
I received my Blizzard 1230 + FPU & 128 MB Ram today (Sat) :)
All parcelled up nice and secure :) You were right Effy ! It could have survived a train crash !! :) lol
As you can see, Very fast delivery !!
Excellent communication and even passes on his knowledge at the same time!
That's not all !!
Effy even threw in a 16MB SIMM free !! :) I will have to scout around B&Q or somewhere to get some rubber feet that hold my desktop A1200 up about an inch to fit the 128MB SIMM - bit of air circulation as well is a good thing for ventilation !! but I'm happy to use the 16MB SIMM for the time being !!!
Thanks Effy !! Your one heluva guy and Amibayer !! 8)
10/10 Stars !!
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Happy to know that you are so glad with your new card :D The 128 Mb module is indeed a bit big for the desktop, so that's why I added an extra smaller Simm to the package, a Simm which I didn't have any use for as I only prefer 64 Mb and 128 Mb
The Blizzard 1240 I have now has got a heatsink on it and this makes it difficult to use 128 Mb Simm.
I used to have one with the heatsink removed, the module placed and later I glued a smaller heatsink to it :
http://users.pandora.be/DiscoVmax/Am...scsi+256MB.jpg
Please not that you NEED COOLING for an 68040 !! A Pentium4 cooler is great but a small Pentium1 cooler will also work just fine !!!
Also for sale is : Blizzard 1220/4, moving your A1200 to 28 Mhz and 4 Mb Fast Ram on the card, so you can still use your pcmcia slot for memory expansion or network. Can you run OS3.9 with it ? Yes you can, but you need to turn off the bells and wistles, so making it as sober as possible. OS 3.1 is absolutely no problem.
Price : 60 euro, shipping to any place on this planet is included in price, PayPal possible.
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
Hi Effy !!
One chuffed user now :) - the card has transformed my Miggy !! :)
Can I please add here for info - the reason I upgraded was because my old card of 8MB fast ram interfered with the PCMCIA slot and couldn't degrade it down to 4MB to stop the interference... No matter what sequence of jumpers I tried, it was either 8MB, no fast ram or just plain refused to work !!
From chatting with Harrison the newer Blizzards don't interfere with the PCMCIA slot at all :)
No matter what size SIMM you use !! :)
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
More cards added. Now I have for sale :
-Blizzard 1220/4, moving your A1200 to 28 Mhz and 4 Mb Fast Ram onboard, 60 Euro.
-Blizzard 1240/40 : no 128 Mb Simm installed due to heatsink on processor, smaller simm included, can be upgraded to 1260 by qualified technician, 220 Euro
-Gasteiner M120, also known as AmiTek Hawk, an 4/8 Mb Ram card with 4 Mb installed, 50 Euro
-Microbotics MBX1200 4/8 Mb Ram card WITH co-processor, an 68881 clocked at 20 Mhz, 4 Mb installed, 70 Euro
All cards have been tested on an A1200 with OS3.5, heavier than OS3.1. I had 2,5 Mb Fast Ram free after I got into Workbench, so it runs pretty good. Of course a Blizzard with 128 Mb is better :D
I also have got a Mtec 1230 and GVP 030 but I still need to test those before I offer them for sale ...
Payment by PayPal or bank transfer in Euroīs, shipping already included in price so no extra costs.
-
Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
I shall offer m my remaining Blizzard 1230/4 50/50 (with co-processor)+128 Mb for sale, price is 200 euro, shipping price included so no extra costs.
And the Blizzard 1240/40, I have three of them and 2 68060 processors too but donīt know who can upgrade them at a fair price. Thatīs why they can go at the price previous mentionned ...
-

-Blizzard 1240 with 68040/40 Mhz + 32 Mb simm, 220 Euro
All cards have been tested on an A1200 with OS3.5, heavier than OS3.1. I had 2,5 Mb Fast Ram free after I got into Workbench with 4 Mb Fast Ram installed, so it runs pretty good.

Re: Blizzard 1230/4+fpu, 1240, 1260.
I'm just going to change the title of this thread - to something a little more appropriate for the actuality of it all... :D
(Change it back if you don't like it, Effy.)

Re: Effy's accelerators
I got my 1260 accelerator from Effy, and it was just how he said, and worked perfectly! He's very easy to deal with and there were no delays. Great guy to deal with, so dont hesitate to buy any of his products :)
Thanks again Effy!
-
Re: Effy's accelerators
ohiojohn : youīre welcome, have fun with it :D
About the Blizzard 1240īs, little change in offer. I decided to keep 1 1240 and sell 2 others :
-Blizzard 1240/40 with heatsink and cooler + 16 Mb simm : 200 euro
-Blizzard 1240/40 with smaller heatsink and smaller cooler + 128 Mb (no rubber band needed) : 220 euro
Shipping still included in price of course
Note that to install it in a desktop you need to lift the A1200 a bit because the cooler and memory module take much more space than for example a Blizzard 1230/4 :D

Re: Effy's accelerators
@ JLPedro
I'm not going to stomp all over your transaction as it's obviously complete, however, inquiring minds would like to know how you achieved this, with only one post on Amibay...........????
It's got me puzzled.....

Re: Effy's accelerators
Okay,
Sorry for being "Mr, Stating-The-Obvious" here, but don't we have something in the site rules about declaring interest in threads first?
Besides, his first post was to thank Effy for it's arrival, not to declare interest, that was where I was headed with my line of questioning.
I don't think I am nit picking in this case, unless someone can explain it to me differently. I'm just curious, that's all......
-
Re: Effy's accelerators
I'm sorry and i apologize if i broke some rule... :? , the deal as made thou PM, but on amiga.org, just posted the arrival of the card on this site to make clear that this is a great seller and trustworthy person. Will try to be more careful in future as i think this site is the future for selling and buying Amiga related hardware (and other computers), as eBay is getting out of control in my opinion. Thanks.
-
Re: Effy's accelerators
As your deal was conducted at Amiga.org then that would be the right place to praise Effy. There is also a User Feedback thread here, in the General Chat forum, and that is also appropriate - but should really be reserved for deals conducted through Amibay.
In any case, Welcome. :)
-
Re: Effy's accelerators
Thanks for clearing that up for me JLPedro, you had me scratching my head there.... :?
As meega said, welcome to Amibay, please take the time to familiarise yourself with the rules of the site and feel free to ask any questions if you are unsure.
:D

Re: Effy's accelerators
Not really a turboboard but still interesting :
-Hydra Systems: AmigaNet Zorro II Rev 1.1A card with 1 x BNC and 1 x AUI
SANA-II Driver: Yes (hydra.device)
MNI Driver: Yes (z2-dp8390.mni)
The AmigaNet is a full length Zorro II Ethernet card (NatSemi 32490CN) for the Amiga. Depending on the specific versions of the card, it supports 10Base5, 10Base2 and 10BaseT. To support 10BaseT, your card may require an optional upgrade to attach the RJ45 connector to the board. Earlier revisions of the board have two BNC connectors, rather than the conventional single connector that most ethernet cards have. This means you do not need the "T" connector which you do with other ethernet cards. You simply attach both BNC connectors to the same network segment. The AmigaNet has been reported to transfer at up to 600k/sec. The Zorro II network card released by GVP called the A-Net 2000 was simply this card rebadged.
Price : 50 euro, 40 UKP, 78.50 USD
Shipping to any place on the planet : 14 euro, 11 UKP, 22 USD
Shipping will be done in a well protected box, not in used newdpaper
