Crazy A4000 behavior. Unbelievable!?!?!?

Oh yes. It happened. I just wanted to play a game yesterday. So I just turned it on.

But, WTF.... Something is wrong.

I opened a CLI: The prompt of "Workbench:" is not like that. It's "Workbenc:". Huh... where is this fu**** "h" gone? :Doh:

What else? Aha.... I tried on CLI "SYS:Libs", but my Amiga always redirects me to "SYS:L".. Mouahahaha... that's incredible.... :mad:

What else? Ah... I cannot run any preferences program, because the resource.library is missing, although my LIBS: drawer is there, but I bet nothing it works from there now.

What else? I tried to edit a text via CygnedEd. I pressed the down-button to move my cursor one space below, but that fu***** cursor moved 10 spaces.... :wooha:

This behaviour seems to random to be a hardware issue. Could it be a virus?

The CIA might affect the input from the keyboard, but it would not affect the internal operations of the dos. If you saw "Sys:Libs" on screen, then the input has been succesfull...

Unless... the return key is adding deletes before it sends the code for the return?

Grab a booting anti-virus disk and do a thorough pass on the Amiga HD.

I bet only 50% to be a virus, but I'll try. Which one do you recommend? Also I don't think it's a hardware issue.

How does the machine behave if you boot with no startup-sequence?

Test the keyboard there, browse the SYS: assign with your good friends "CD" and "DIR"

Do this after a cold boot, from power on. This way you eliminate bad install or other software as a cause. Well, file system might still be corrupt. What is your permanent storage media? HD, CF? Which filesystem, how big, etc?

If you don't have scandoubling/flicker fixer capabilities. Hook your amiga up to a tv-set. On ebay there are amiga to scart cables. Or someone here has one to spare.

Can it be because of a corrupted Libs: directory or even this resource.library file? I'll need to check.

Does it have additional memory, can you try it without?

I have the 16MB onboard and the 128MB on the 060 card.
