Blizzard 1230 MKIV

It is with a heavy heart and an empty belly I list my:

Phase 5 Blizzard 1230 MKIV 50mhz, no fpu or ram - Was £125, Now £119 +p&p (should be no more than £11 to anywhere in the world).

No box, manual or disks, but all drivers should be found online. I really do not want to sell this but I barely use it and I think it would be better off in a loving home.

Please note that it may take up to 3 business days after agreeing a deal for this item to be dispatched. I will not take any payment until the day prior to dispatch. I would prefer to send by a recorded method.

There were a couple of other queries in the PM, so I am going to answer them here so that the community has an opportunity to jump in an correct me if I make an error or if there are pratfalls to be made:

"I believe the MC68882RC50A (PGA) FPU should work in this unit"

As far as I am aware this device takes a 68882 PGA form factor FPU. I do not know the model numbers of the unit(s) that actually work. Can anybody confirm that this is the correct model number?

"Im guess this requires a single stick of 60ns EDO single sided 128Meg ram?"

Again as far as I am aware a 72 pin EDO 60ns should work with this unit. I think I may be right in warning that there may be an issue with some SIMMS being a tiny bit too tall to get the trapdoor shut after installation. I have only used this with 4 meg SIMMs, and even a SIMM with chips on both sides managed to it for me.

I need to double check but I think the connectors on the SIMM socket are gold, so you might want to use a SIMM with gold connectors to avoid an issue with corrosion in the future.

Postage to Australia should be £11, International Signed For. I am planning to send it in a static bag, then inside an extra padded out jiffy bag, then inside a cardboard DVD mailer box.

Does anybody have recommendations on how to best handle the customs declaration?

Hi , i'm stating interest in the item too. I believe i'll be 2nd if the other user changes his mind.

I'm in Portugal and there would not be a problem with customs.

Any 68882 PGA FPU @ 50Mhz should be fine.

You can find some 128mb SIMM's which are not too high so you can close the trapdoor but these are few and far between. Most people use a 64mb SIMM which lies flush between the CPU and the SIMM socket.

Some SIMM's have tin connectors too - these work just as well as the gold IMHO

Many thanks for the info Blankstare. Do you think the customs form should be marked as a gift, with the sale value of the item? I am concerned about the buyer getting hit with import tax.
