Can someone list the differences between the different motherboard revisions? 1A, 1B, 1D1, 1D3, 1D4, 2B
And also, does anyone know when each was manufactured, and in which country/company each was made? Commodore/Escom/Amiga Technologies, and UK, France, Germany, Philippines. Which would make it easy to identify the version externally, without the need to look at the motherboard.
Finally which of the 2 most common revisions, 1D4 and 2B, is the best to use, and why?

Not helpful Kin. I wanted to try and get those with good A1200 knowledge here to get together as much info as possible on the differences. Most existing sites, including "Amiga Hardware" only go into very brief detail on the differences.
Thanks for the link. Interesting info with the CBM part numbers listed for everything. Although not sure how that information could be used.
But the info on that page is a little confusing. What are all the A1200 revisions listed with just 1M? Are these 1MB development boards? And many have RTC stated? Again are these dev boards?
very tricky to date the Escom boards they were the owners from 1995-1996 and they bought the old stock, so there is an overlap period there also the Philippines had various motherboard revisions and NO stock rotation methods, literally any revision was put in any case at any time depending on what boxes they opened.
I too am guessing the 1Ms etc are dev boards

NP mate. All additional information is great to try and build a bigger picture of the A1200 revisions and what is out there.
From what I've ascertained, 1d4s are considered pretty reliable. I believe it's due to timing fixes or somesuch. Still, my A1200 is a rev 1A and it seems perfectly reliable to me...
It depends what you put in the A1200 as to what Rev Mobo you should have. Apollo 1260's are dead donkeys in 1D1 boards for example, yet work fine in a 1D4 & 2B, thought the 2B does go wobbly sometimes depending on what your doing at the time. Apollo 1260's are the fastest 060 cards for the A1200 with the 1D4 combo, irrespective of the clcok speed. Zetr0 is the man who can on this subject for me. ;)
In all honesty Harrison, you are asking a very difficult question from the off here. Go buy a shed load of different revision 1200 boards & accelerators with internal Hard Drive controllers etc & then you'll be able to work it out. Either that or do a pile of trawling accross all the Amiga sites for a bit better clarification.
If nothing else, you now know the crack with Apollo 1260's. - Then again, JuvUK might know different as he scrapped his A1200 Apollo based system for lots of issues & I'm not sure if he was using a 1D4 or not? :shrug:

Exactly Kin. This is a very difficult question to get all of the answers too, which is why I wanted to ask it here to try and collect together as much information as we can on the revisions to help A1200 owners, and those looking to buy one.
So you would say the 1D4 boards are probably the best boards to use if possible, and the 2B next in line? Although isn't it true that the 1D4 revision also has timing issues that need fixing to get them working correctly with faster accelerators?
