Vampire 600 - Amiga 600 FPGA accelerator - PRE-ORDER

So after mastermind majsta told me to update my fresh received vampire 600 board from the original core 0.1 to 1.0 , i ordered one of these USB Blasters and got it yesterday afternoon .
With sweating hands ( like every bios update ) i made it point by point and what can i say ????

It works :wooha: holy crap ...what kind of fantastic piece of engineering


Same board on post 232 with a sysinfo of 2638 and 5 MB FastRam is now lifted to a total new level , but of course no one would believe this without some proving pics ...
so here they are ...proudly presents :D

additional info : all problems during booting are gone with the new core 1.0 ...now it is really plug and play !

By the way, kipper2k, are you still manufacturing some boards ? May I ask who is the last person you served on that thread ? :)

I hope that I will build better cores in the future. I wish only that you could see fastest version 14.34 Mips I published pictures some time ago. It was fastest A600 ever but unfortunately I have lost that code because my HD died. I wrote about that. Sad thing is that me and mmrobinson had discussion what I have done to achieve that performance and we have no idea. Some pure luck in codding made that happened but eventually I will find what I have done.

For now I m out because long holidays in my country...

i have to say thx for this great item :thumbsup:, obviously some childhood illnesses left ,
but of course it is a totally new development , so it is absolutely normal and no one could expect plug and play for such a fantastic piece of engineering .
Yes , i saw some of these pics , but may there will occur some heating problems with this really fast one .

I'm confused. Is there now a new 1.0 core available or is this this the same 1.0 core that was before the 0.1 core?

@stefan_st with that 14.34Mips version I didn't notice any temperature increase, FPGA was cool like on any other core.

@ShKI have sent 50+Vampire 600 boards and few Vampire 500 boards(yes they are working). I think that kipper2k send about 15 Vampire 600 boards but sad thing is that people who declared interest didn't responded in time so we waited long time. I needed to do one unpopular thing and to move on with next one on my list, now after month or so those who didn't responded in time asking can they send me money for the card, strange... They just needed to respond and say that they are not ready to send money but that they still want to have a card. Some people did that and I send them card before their money update. How hard is to respond to the mail???

@protek Core 1.0 was initial core and only one. Core 0.1 was build just because some people requested core configured like that. Actually some people didn't wanted emulated MC68020 and so much FastRam. They just wanted simplest version of the core based on MC68000 with precisely placed FastRam into address spaces that can support lot of games. I m using 0.1 version of the core all the time because it has better results with WHDLoad. In version 1.0 I didn't placed memory in proper locations so lot of games and programs having hard time finding memory and additional modifications is needed for WHDLoad but it can work just fine with few tweaks. I have tested that core for half an year and it is fine, not perfect but fine for initial release.

Same here - I did express an interest just before Xmas and didn't hear anything. Also via Kippers web site before I discovered the thread. I assume it was simply that things were so busy that we'd just not got to my place in the list yet :D

I'm in two minds now actually as I just bought a GBA-1000 to build up but that will be a long term project so I guess I will still go for a Vampire as well ;)

@Rakeim132 it is true. I never expected this to happens. I didn't have clue that demand is so high. My first order of PCB-s was 20 pieces then I corrected that order to more pieces thinking that because my soldering "skills" I will destroy bunch of them. This demand can be handled by only serious manufacturer. My hands are tied since I just can't order another batch because customs regulations in my country can bring me to jail in short period of time if I order just few more boards. I wrote about that some time ago and I m really afraid what can happen if I place another order of parts.

Got my card from Kipper2k. The first package he sent didn't made it to my home, then he sent another one free of charge. This time it took only one week and arrived in perfect shape. Thanks a lot! Leaving feedback now.

Just received my board from Kipper. It's beautifully made and was well packed. I'm going to fire it up on the weekend.

I'm always amazed at the amount of care that kipper puts into the handling. Hand written addresses, stamps, helpful hints written on the packing etc.

Excellent work Kipper, you're one of the most proven, consistent, reliable manufacturers of bespoke Amiga gear. Keep up the good work!

Hi All,

I need to update some info on these. As most of you are aware the Vampire uses very fine pitch parts and when i do it right it works great, when i have accidental solder bridges ithey are really hard to troubleshoot and it can take a long time to try to track down the problem. I have had quite a few failures building these and its not cheap, so i am going to start using an oven and a stainless steel stencil that hopefully will apply the right amount of solder paste without causing the bridges. If i still have issues i will elect to get them assembled in a pro house. I have ordered a stencil but its chinese new year so i am in limbo.

Sorry to those on the list but i want to make sure you all get something that doesn't have issues.

I have a couple of finished ones and will mail people down the list.

I think kipper2k makes them now when his got time and apollo team some guys who split up from the Natami team. Are making the phoenix core, I'm hoping majsta comes back though.
