Finally after all these years I have been able to play this Game at home, just like I used to enjoy it in the Arcades!
I didn't want to play with the pad and once I found out from Chrisunderwood you can use the Peacekeeper Revolver with any display due to it's sensor box I just had to have one.
I honestly never though I'd be able to play a Classic light gun game like this on my projector.
Now if only I could use this Gun with my other consoles!
So this little fella arrived today courtesy of eBay:
Good clear picture, very impressed only through composite! I also had to buy the FMV cartridge to play the Game. The acting is just as bad as I remember lol!
I'm having some minor issues with Gun calibration maybe due to the huge size of the display and my viewing angle due to having the projector behind me I have to sit/stand to the right or left.
Otherwise I'm having as much fun as I had back in the day playing in the arcades and I don't have to keep sinking £1 coins into it!!!
I hope you enjoy the Video :)

It's fantastic! Will be even better when I can get the gun accurate and turn off the crosshairs!
At the moment it's accurate in the bottom half of the screen (albeit a bit off to the left) but out by a lot in the top half presumable due to my viewing angle.
Maybe the sensor would be better at the top or to one side, I'll have to read the manual and have a play :D

I'm having the same problem ( just on mccree though )
Other games like chaos control , cd shoot , creature shock , seem to be a lot better on projector. Can't get the mccree calibration sorted on projector either but on my 50 inch flat screen it's spot on.
Yeah the best position for the sensor is at the top of the screen but can't fit it on the roof above projected screen .
It's great int it , shooting at a wall sized screen .
Is mccree 2 any better than mccree Steve?

Wow, just like the arcade. Amazing.
I have this on my Mega CD but the FMV is rubbish compared to the awesomeness of the CDI & projector.
Good work :)

Thanks BrooksterMax! I had tried not to build my hopes up in case it was rubbish but I have to say it's full of WIN!
@chrisunderwood
Yeah MDII is much easier to play, MDI even when you hit them they don't want to die lol. It was a little frustrating to be honest, MDII is a much better experience

i use an ems topgun 2 also has sensors works on pc and a bunch of consoles..
better on a projector than a tv.. it has a lazser sight (really used to help calibrate) but if u wanna use it on a tv you do tend to get a laser beam reflected in your eye ball...
I prefer maddog 1. but mad dog mcree 2 is good also (have them on pc)
can use the ems top gun because you can configure it so it acts like it was the mouse, so you can use it on games that werent expecting you to have a light gun and were really meant for a mouse but a light gun style game..
if your asking do i reccomend the ems topgun 2.. probably have to as there isnt much els out thee that does the same. it is a little flimsy but generally good, calibration is a pain as if you move exessivly after you calibrated it then calibration is a bit off.
and id probably reccomend having the laser sight And the recoil function turned off.. *unless the original arcade version had recoil function and you want the feel of that*
i have a lot of fun playing point blank on mame with it.
But it was a bit expensive.

il be interested to see what the diference in the sensors are compared to the ems 2 and ems 3. or wheter the ems 3 is a wierless verion of the ems 2.

It's good how its compatible with pc and original Xbox . I love my modded Xbox
And there's got to be a lot of PC based shooters.

No worries guys, all useful info!
I didn't try Chaos control yet as I've been working on the house, I did get a 5 min break and played Mad Dog 1 again and getting to grips with it now (self adjusting now for the inaccuracy lol)
I found you have to shoot them at a certain time for it to register a hit, once you learn when to make the kill shot it's all good

Haven't had time either to try MDII ,
But if its easier than md I can't wait .

Oh and ice cream I understand but I think you actually lay the ice cream on its side and insert into the gun shell . I think ?
Sounds messy

WOW I'm absolutely astonished by Chaos Control :o
What an excellent use of the FMV capabilities, goes to show what might have been possible on an FMV equipped CD32, imagine what sort of Games you could have had with an SX32 Pro CD32 + FMV :coffee:
Must check out some other Games, any suggestions on cool CDi titles that use FMV appreciated

Ah I get it now:) i've got a gun thing for it so no waving
Works with a sensor bar so is good with a projector.
I have pc versions of all the American laser games shooters and they work great.
Cdi version looks cool too.

Hee hee, Mad Dog 'not Colin Mcrae' Mcree!
Nice one Steve. The projector set-up looks of the stuff that dreams are made, and being able to use a light gun on a projector screen is definitely a dream for most.
Would be great to have one of those for the Sega Saturn or Sony Playstation.
Please make one, someone!

you use that thing yet ?
what are the sensors like?
29th August 2013, 21:11
chrisunderwood
I've not had chance yet but -
Projector- the sensors would have wires running through my projected screen !
I just use a wall so can't feed wires behind it.
My flat screen big tv in bed- no room for sensors cos it folds into the bed with only a few millimetres space.
And I can't use my 50inch flat screen cos the kids would just pull the sensors off , not leaving them to be wrecked lol .
And I'm not going to use my 14 inch portable cos that would be sad !
So I'm a bit restricted at the moment .

A 50inch television that folds into your bed.
I bet it automatically folds/unfolds too.

Yeah there's Also a pink dolphin there .
Just waiting for my motorised projector screen then I will have the lot lol
ok so id think thats an improvement in design right there. although im guessing possitioning them properly may take a bit longer.
Shame i cant justify upgrading to the wife lol..
The topgun 2 was more expensive when i bought it than the topgun 3 is.
and i had to get it from playasia who use federal extortion as a courier.
so all in all wife isnt gonna let me lol..
but i wonder if the sensors work with the ems top gun2 and if i can buy those seperate.
2nd September 2013, 15:59
chrisunderwood
I'd expect them to work with the top gun 2 , I'm not sure but it looks the same but wireless . Suppose would not know unless u had both sets to try .
They come with 4 squares of white putty to hold them where u want them .
I will have to ( sorry about the punn )
Give it a shot later when the kids go to bed n report back on the quality/accuracy .

Now that is quality !!!! Wow got house of the dead on Xbox on my 50 inch flatscreen ! Woo hoo , laser dot and recoil ! Excellent .

i killed my topgun 2 playing bang on mame yesterday :(
it made a Bleep bloop noise saying device was dissconnected.. I wiggled the usb lead and it went bleep bloop bleep bloop..
(usb lead was broken)
i dunno what els happend to it when i wiggled the wires probably managed to pump 5v up one of the data lines wiggeling it..
Spent like an hour stripping down the usb part (it splits to 3 connectors so i wanted to see if there was any resisters or anything in the split up part..
as far as i could tell
it was
Blue to blue
white to black (and a white wire that connected to the recoil enable wire male)
red to brown and to a red wire for the recoil)
green to green
and then sheild/ground wire..
looked straight forward enough.
I decided to play it safe and not solder white to black. or red to brown.
And just solderd those 2 to the recoil enable cable.
And everything els matched up.
well it didnt detect new hardware when i pluged it in..
so i connected recoil function wires together and it detected new device but it had an error..
So i went and solderd red to brown and black to white..
then it did detect a new device but it still had an error..
I may sit down with it later. and examine my possibilities.
but i think its fried :(
i have 7 wires for a 5 pin connection lol. I KNOW 2 of them are + and - 5v for the recoil. and i know they are red and white.
and i can also see from the remnance of whats left of the wiering mess they had encased in epoxy that A white wire connects to black and a red wire connects to brown.
Which again makes sence +5 should be the red. and Ground is black.
but its strange because i dont see any reason for the usb side to have 7 wires
usb side should be
Red, Black, green, blue, sheilding..
they should connect to the same wires on the other end.
Brown and white should connect to the Male Adapter for the recoil (gun side)
and then the female adapter (usb side) should connect to red and black..
There is no reason to have 7 stinking wires on the usb connection side. and they are messing with my damn head lol..
i think i am going to have to strip the whole things down to its pcb's
follow the dumb traces to the recoil motor. and see what colour wires connect to that.
Strip the outer casing completley off the usb cable and follow the wires down
then replace the whole lot with a usb cable (only 5 stinking wires, so no recoil function)
And then see if it detects it.
If it does then who knows i may add some extra weight to the slide and throw in a 9v battery for the recoil.
See fi i cant break my own wrists when im playing a game lol.
Sigh.
i really liked that gun 2 :(
Mame is no fun without it.:picard

Iv not had enough spare time to do more than house of the dead III
But I'd like to advance to more pc based stuff
I have to say the accuracy is excellent . Was a bit peed off to start with until I found my house of dead 3 disk . Not many titles for Xbox to try.
Saying that I'm going to look for more.
Wish I could help with the wires ! Just buy a Mk III
Wireless is defo good ( I did not have wires knocking over my pint , nor was the wife complaining about wires all over the livingroom lol )
9th September 2013, 02:13
ShambleS1980
MUHAHAHA !
i fixed it.
turned out they were being pointless..
And confused me.
basically the BLUE wire was a ground wire for the usb, Black was ground for the recoil. Red was +5v for usb, Brown was +5 v for recoil.
Then white and green were data lines.
and of course sheilding..
Then What they did (just to confuse matters) Was thow in an optional connector which had 2 more wires..
red and white..
This time the red wires connected to brown.. (+5v recoil) and the white wire connected to black (-5v recoil)
Which would have been perfectly fine IF ONE OF THE FRIGGING DATA LINES WASNT WHITE AS WELL!!!
any way all figured out now.
green to green.
red to red
a diferent white to a diferent white,
Blue to blue..
sheilding to sheilding..
THEN here come the pointless and confused the matter wires.
brown to a diferent red --> Switch ---> red ---> brown
black to a diferent White ---> Switch----> white ---> Black
(hopefully if some lost soul gets the same issues as me they will find that usefull..)
All in all way more wires than needed. Should just have standard usb connection then split the 5v In the gun and cram in a on off switch.
ANY WAY
loaded up and working again with a extra long wire now too lol.
I think i will load mad dog mcree on a pc some where "cant remember if its true 32bit , or has a 16bit installer) the gaming machine is on windows 7 x64 so if it has a 16 bit installer that will scupper my plans.
:double
Any way really should appologise for this BLAITANT thread hyjacking.
But to get it back on par I will try and install mad dog mcree. and maybe we can compare vid;s and see who remembers where they pop up next the best!
this week has been rediculous for me anything that can break has broken or decided not to work.
EVERYTHING has been a pain to repair lol.
the rott is set in so deep evn things i sold/traded decided to just stop working,
and to cap it all off..
I sat on my ds when fixing the gun..
Gonna need a new case for that now.. im just glad its a start of a new week i say.
Im glad im not a manic depressive lol.

Glad to see you got it up and running again !
I'm exited for mt projector screen to come so I can do some propped shooting .
The red laser dot reflects off the TV but it won't off projector so should be better.
Ordered silent scope complete 1 , 2 , 3 ... That should be good too.
