Amiga 500 4/8mb fastmem boards with IDE

Some five or six month ago I bought 8MB+IDE extension in this thread. It never arrived. We waited approx two months, and then Kipper2k returned the money I paid, even though I never asked, since it was unregistered parcel.

Since it was fifth or so lost pacel to Poland, he informed in the thread that he stopped sending stuff to PL.

Now the majick happens - I have just received the package. There's one curious extra stamp on it: "missent to Jamaica" :) :) :).

It turns out it wasn't Polish post office that was responsible for all the lost parcels.

I believe someone in Canadian post office, for whatever reason, decided to route parcels to Poland to Jamaica :). Why? Beats me.

All in all - I've received the board and of course I'll be re-paying the money I owe kipper2k for the thing. I wouldn't be surprised if more of these "lost" parcels arrive to PL and kipper2k is paid for his good stuff by these receiving them.

As a minor niggle can anybody think why I can't get it to play nice with a570? A500 rev6a, 1mb chip and kS 2.05 from a600. From what I read it shouldn't cause a clash on anything. Driver seems to get injected but the cd0 task crashes immediately on boot up.

Quick question. Is it still possible to have the A500 shield installed with this CFIDE/RAM board in place?

I think it should be possible if you solder the two wires directly to the expansion instead of having the connector on it. With the connector, there is no way unless you cut a hole in the shield.

They are not compatible. Been there, done that :)

So just that I have it right with that signal line, it's pad 9 and 10 viewed from above left from 1 and it's island pad 2 and holes 2 and 3, right?

Strange things happen at the posting companies...

My package from Amikit was shipped from CARDIFF (GB) to KOELN (DE), now that is logical as I live in the Netherlands near the German border up North...
But I follow the tracking and the package has now been shipped to ROISSY CHARLES DE GAULLE CEDEX FR?

Now that is illogical for me.... why ship the package to Paris (south of Koeln) and not just up north in my direction? It just makes no sense...

I got a private message from kipper2k about a month ago explaining it was my turn along with some folks more. Soon paid for two boards and so far that's all I know... no replies from kipper2k by neither email nor private message here, and no packet arrived. I guess this is normal as he is very busy. In the past he has been fast, and totally fair, so I am not fearing to have lost my money but still can't wait to get my hands on this boards :)

Please be patient Kipper is dealing with a family loss and is out of the country at the moment. I'm sure when he's home and things have settled down he will be doing his best to sort every one request's.


@ Kipper , It's a pity that it's under these circumstances your visiting our green shores kipper, if things where different it would have been good to met you.

You're lucky! Mine is also never arrived, and I don't live in Podland...
Perhaps the Post has sent it to the moon... and I'll receive it in some years!:(

I paid my board just before Kipper informed about sad things that happened. I was sure that my board was not on the way, but it arrived just week after payment. And it's working really nice, can't understand how fast Amiga can be with right add-ons.

I had one small problem, after long usage chip in middle of board got pretty hot. I get some weird problems, crashing and so on. I attached small heat sink to chip with thermal tape and after that no more crashing. Anyone else had problems with heat?

My question is: I have an Amiga 500 with 1.3 kickstart and one Amiga 500 with dual kickstart (switch) 1.3 and 2.0 I read that 1.3 is not autoboot for HD. Can I boot from floppy and then redirect rest booting sequence to the HD? (With workbench 1.3.4 of course). I'm interesting primarily in workbench 1.3 from HD. Thanks in advance for your help.

I belive that this will require rom with A600 scsi.device, so kickstart must be at least 2.0. With 1.3 it woun't work.

Also you can mod the 1.3 rom to add/replace the scsi.device, but you will need a propper eprom, a programer and a 256 to 512kb Rom mod on your board because rom 1.3 will grow over 256kb...

1.3 will autoboot anyway from HD if extra rom is present at the interface or you add support for the correct driver directly in modded kickstart. Your chances are to mod 1.3 or upgrade to the correct 2.x rom with A600 internal ide autoboot support. You must mod the A500 rom socket with 256 to 512 kb on both cases...

I'm back in Canada, it's been quite a while away, My sister passed away from cancer of the heart after having it spread from other areas. I remember when i used to go to weddings and christenings, circle of life sux.

I have a lot to catch up on and i will step up the gears to try to get things done ASAP. I will start bt continuing on with the orders for the a500 8mb/IDE boards, i will have some ready to mail on Monday and will continue through the list. If you have changed your mind after i send you an email just let me know, that,s fine, it's been a long wait and you can change your minds if you want.

My mother passed away due to cancer some years ago.... very hard to see someone fight this horrible desease and to not understand there is no real medication :(

Little question: is it possible to make the ram auto-config with a custom (3.9?) rom module?

It should work fine, i can't see any reason why it shouldn't autoconfig.

Bumping my interested, I declared interested in one A500 8MB board and CPU adapter on previous page, but I'm still not on the list on the first page :/

I declared interest previously at EAB for 8mb CF card and A500 cpu adaptor, am happy either way if that is transferred here or kept there.:)
