Hi, I'm interested in the expansion of 8MB + cpu adapter for my Amiga 500 rev 6A, I have a couple of doubts, it supports with "aca 500", you can sell a compatible compact flash with possible serious expansion out the compact flash abroad with An adapter of this type

I would also like to have led the visible expansion. greetings and thanks
Interested in the 8MB version
About a CDTV, in picture there is a red arrow. I think it is a capasitor, if someone know better please correct me.
Attachment 80705
Capasitor is higest part on mobo. When you install the Ram + Ide board, it comes under it. If you want to install board so that it sits straight, you can't close CDTV's case. It is some millimeters higer than CPU slot, but when you install 68000 to board it comes too high to be able close case.
So you will have three options : Keep your CDTV open or replace capasitor with lower one or install board so that it sits skewed, but that means it wouldn't work reliably.
Hello everyone, and heavy, I'm about to buy this someone has tried? in the extension of kipper2k? genius would be more accessible cf card.

The capacitor problem also happens with the A500 motherboard, the easiest option is to remove it and then lay the original capacitor on its side (its not as wide as it is long), if the legs are too short to reach the location holes when they are bent to fit, you can use wires to connect it to the motherboard (doing that will also allow you to move the capacitor to a better location if needed).
Realistically, buying a new capacitor with long legs is the best idea, that way you can simply pre-form the cap to lay sideways and have plenty of the legs left to fit through the holes (much neater).
If memory serves me right, Kipper mentioned that idea on one of his posts a long time ago, I'm not sure if it was for this board or another one he made :)

There is no capasitor problem on A500 with CPU risers. A500 capasitor are like those wich are right from red arrow on picture. On CDTV it is not a possible seat a card without CPU risers. With risers and without that big capasitor, there wouldn't be a problem.

The risers do work, but on the A500 it is better to do the capacitor modification for stability where you reduce the height required and then you don't need to use the risers. I know this to be so as I ended up doing it myself on my A500 with my 8mb board from this very thread. It is also practical to fit some self adhesive foam onto the Paula chip on the A500 to assist in supporting the card as there is a lot relying on just the CPU pins holding the connections, simple but effective and it also supports the extra weight of the CF card.
I don't have a CDTV, but you mentioned that the capacitor was too high and I have given you an option to either try or not, that is up to you, I do know however that the A500 I have is a lot more stable connection wise by removing / not using the extra riser and laying the large capacitor on its side in order to allow the risers to be left out.
Problem arises if you are not a capable to do capasitor change yourself. If we all would have needed soldering skils and equipments, there would not be any need for those risers, wich of course would be best solution. Point is, CDTV has limitations, wich are not solvable without modification of motherboard.
You are right about the soldering skills and equipment, its something you either enjoy or fear in case you break something in the process (it can happen). Maybe you know someone local who is competent at electronics and who would do the modification for you? I think most of us started out having to repair our old equipment and worked up from there, once you have done a few repairs it mainly gets easier, mind you even changing capacitors can be awkward if there is a large ground plane as it can suck away the heat quite fast and makes melting the solder that much harder
I hope you manage to find someone to do the capacitor modification, that way you could pass on whether it did the job or not for others with CDTVs to gain knowledge from :)
I gave up with CDTV, need to found another ram solution for it. :( I already bought a scsi expansion to it. :)
Anyway, board works perfvectly with my A500, I even bought a 68010 cpu to it. Just wondering what to do with it, I'm not a interested to have a "non historical" expanded A500, I'm more A1200 guy myself.

I've got my board running in my CDTV on WB 3.1 + Kick 3.1 (with CD drive and extended roms disabled), And booting off CF. But for some reason the command "addmem start 200000 to 9fffff" makes my system reset after approx 3 seconds with software failure error 8000 0003 task 00040E78. I don't see any memory added before it resets. My machine is booting off a CF card that I know works on my other real Amigas. I configured it in WinUAE though. Vanilla install of WB 3.1 with Better WB installed directly after. addmem is included as part of Better WB so i'm using that version which seems to be the same as the one from aminet. Any clues as to what I might be doing wrong?
And for other folks attempting to get this board working in a CDTV, here's alternative points for /OVR (white wire) and /INT2 (blue wire): -
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-x...o/DSC_0150.JPG
Just did a simple continuity test from pin 11 and 13 of the Expansion port and found those two points.
CF hard drive working great, just can't get Fast Mem to work. Tried putting command in before setpatch and even booting with no startup. Each time it resets like there is a conflict or something. I don't have anything else in the CDTV apart from a Joystick adapter (which shouldn't cause issues) has anyone tried this in a CDTV with WB/Kick 3.1 and JP15 removed to disable CDTV boot roms?
I've tried it with all roms and WB's. CD on/Off. Booting from floppy, HD ON/OFF, I even tried different mem settings. It did add the memory but then crashed a few seconds later.
Now the CF card doesn't work any more so it's sitting in the junk box.
EDIT: The memory works fine in an A500.
Oh dear... has anybody got this working with a CDTV for a long period of time? I was under the impression it was working for some at least. I don't have an A500 to test it on, but I am quite sure Kipper2k tested it well before sending me it. I hope someone has a solution.
Edit: - my CDTV is a Rev 2.2c if that's of any use.
OK, I had some spare time today to mess about with my CDTV. I tried to narrow down a good mem location and ended up finding out that it works for my CDTV if I use "addmem start 210000 to 9fffff" this gives me 8,172,960 bytes of Fast Mem. I put the line directly after Setpatch in my Startup Sequence. So any of you guys that have had trouble with your CDTV's, try 210000 instead of 200000.
I'm seeing people having problems with this on the CDTV.
I was intending on purchasing one of these CF+8MB boards (as soon as money is available) and wondered if anybody has tried on an A500/A500+ with A570 CD drive?
If so, was there any issues?
Hi i just ordered an 8mb from kipper,(directly not "through" amibay) out of interest did anyone get a version without autoconfig for the a500 (if kipper made it - edit it seems he said in the forum he could supply a second cpld without autoconfig for $4). There was discussion in this thread about using it with an action replay 3. (And manually adding ram via addmem) anyone get this working ?

I think there are quite a few incompatibilities, however to be fair it would be very difficult and/or expensive for Kipper to test all configs, so I guess you just have to take a gamble.
I purchased an 8mb+IDE board to go in a Phoenix A1000 - no worky. In fact, the board kills CIA chips in the Phoenix!!!! The first CIA that blew made me think it was a coincidence, but after the second one went I knew it was the 8mb/IDE board.
However, the same board works find in an A500 so go figure.
I would be interested in another one of these boards if they are still available.
Folks, Kipper and I (and possibly others) are offering a Bounty over at EAB for an updated KickStart v1.3 patch for A500's using Kippers or MKL's A500 IDE expansions:

Interested in one if available. Sending PM.
Is it still available?
Anyone using this in an amiga 2000? Can you still use a separate accelerator at the same time? (i.e. GVP 030) Looking at the diagrams, does it take up a port?
BTW for all guys who wants to install this board in A2000 (http://kipper2k.com/a2000.html), instead of trying to carve out two pins from unused pcb board, use a spare usb male plug, obviously dismatle it and plug it in to correct pins, works as a charm and you don't have to use glue.
Declaring interest in two 8MB units. PM sent.
Is it still available???
Interessted PM on the way

hi sorry have not been around for some i would like 8mb ide board a500 & will it fit in an a2000?
thanks

Check this link from Kipper2k:

It will fit in an Amiga 2000.
Interested in the 8MB FastMEM board and CPU Adapter for my A500...
After reading the few last pages in this thread it seems you need to solder 2 wires to make the IDE work in CDTV right?
What about the RAM - will that work without soldering? I already have a SCSI (-> SD) controller in my CDTV and just the RAM would be enough for me...
Thanks.
I send you a Private message about my experiences.

Hi Kipper2k,
I'm declaring interest on A508IDE board and A500 CPU Adapter if still available.
I think he is quite busy and it is not uncommon that it can take 1-2 weeks for a reply. If indeed he was not making these anymore, it would be quick to simply let people know that.
He could just add some notes into his website: "be patient, I will contact you all", something like that, just a suggestion, not for criticize :)
With the ACA500 already out of production after just one year (new revision seems to be on the way but no one know when) this is the only option to add a CF into the A500 (I'm not considering other solutions as the A590 module, since this doesn't directly support CF and cost a lot more). I didn't knew I have to wait 1/2 weeks to get a reply, this could really discourage users who doesn't know his involvment into other projects to buy from his website.
I would also like to know if these are available, as I'm rather tempted by the 4mb model.
...
Yea, if anyone gets hold of kipper2k id also be interested in 1 8mb IDE board
HI,
I am interested in the 8mb version of your Amiga 500 fastmem board with IDE. I will also need the A500 CPU adapter. Thanks in advance...
