SwinSID is a hardware replacement for legendary SID sound chip which was placed in every Commodore C64 computer. This hardware extension is designed as a module installed directly into the SID socket. It emulates the sound of the SID chip, but it is a lot more powerful and allows you experience the new dimension of C64 music. SwinSID can be used as a replacement for both old and new revisions of SID. It just emulates almost full register set of standard SID, and almost all applications and hardware devices, which uses SID, should work properly.

are there different types for different sids and motherboards etc? or are they just plug and play?

There is just one chip and it's capable of working on all motherboards and has a jumper that can be used to change between 6581 & 8580 emulation.

There is space on the chip to solder a 1k volume resistor for older c64's but from my testing its barely noticeable.

when you say for use on all motherboards some sids use 12 volts some use 9 volts,but theres no mention as far as i could see in that link.
could you kindly confirm it will work with different voltages please.
also,do you know if i would have to remove the filter caps from the motherboard or not,thanks.as they are also different.

As far as I can tell, it is not using the 9V/12V pin, and it runs only from the 5V supply, thus it will work in any C64 board.
The filters are digital which means the filter capacitors are also not used, so their capacitance does not matter.

I bought a C64 recently and I think the SID has gone (replaced the PSU, everything now working except audio is really low volume)

This might be a good replacement!

Sorry for the delay guys, I had taken a break from the "online" world as the real world has been getting a bit chaotic.

Unfortunately I don't have any more of these left, I am not sure when/If I will have any more manufactured.

Apologies to all those customer who have not yet received feedback, I will have a crack at it this weekend.
