SATA and A4000

This hardware part from AmigaKit

will work on an A4000 or not? Anyone tried that before?:unsure:

I bet yes, i used a similar on a pc, it just converts the SATA to IDE.

I dont see any reason why it shouldn't work.

Try asking Amigakit

At least make sure it's compatible with more modern SATAII drives. They should still be around a few years yet, but the original SATA are now virtually obselete.

Isn't SATAII backwardly compatible with the slowed SATA1? When you normally connect an SATAII drive to an SATAI controller it works, but as the slower speed.

Exactly.

Apparently it's possible to get SATA-I controllers that don't support SATA-II disks. I've never come up against this, but the Intarwebz claims it can happen. The standards are supposed to be backwards and forwards compatible, but whether someone's implementation is is another matter. :-)

I got the adapter yesterday.

I installed it now in my A4000 with a SATA HD and a SATA DVD-ROM, but my Amiga recognizes nothing. :(

Any ideas? :help:
