Hi

I have to get rid of some of my new and boxed joysticks - They were stock from the computer shop and have been acting as loft insulation for the past few decades:

I have a few boxes of 10 - But i am NOT a trader of business in anyway.

They are: MITSIBUSHI MSX ML-50JY JOYSTICK
Primarily for the MSX system, but will work with any 'Atari' style 'D Plug'

I fired up my 2600 woody and 'jump man' happily jumped around the screen in all directions :-)

I can vouch for these joysticks, I completed moonstone on my 1200 with one of these :D

(ah well yes I know moonstone's not too difficult)

They are also made in japan, a relative rarity in joysticks

They have Micro Switches. They are also made in Japan (well made) which i believe is a rarity when it comes to joysticks. Snoozy bought two and said he fully completed a game with one.

I know we shouldn't discuss prices, but for the uk...

Here - £9.99 + £4.00 p&p ( = 13.99 )
Elsewhere - £8.99 + £4.99 p&p ( = 13.98 )

Just a kind reminder that as per bump rules, you should only bump your thread after 2 weeks of inactivity..

Received, tested, and works perfect.

A bit more info: very comfortable 'soft style' joystick, that is to say the movement is not clicky but smooth. But dont let that fool you, the stick has much more room to swing to the sides then e.g. the competition pro. However the movement registers very early in the push of the stick, hence not needed to jerk the stick all the way - and this could prolong its' life a lot.

It has 4 suction caps on the bottom, and its' elongated shape means your hand rests on the base, providing a very stable feeling.

For me only the top fire button works, the shoulder fire button doesn't but it might be that it's MSX specific. I've tested this on an Amiga. Both fire buttons are clicky style - for a good tactile feedback.

All in all, a very nice looking and well built device, highly recommended.

I've received the joystick too and i have just tested it.
It's an awesome japan built joystick with the best quality feeling i have ever seen in a 80's/90's joystick. Great to play Battle Squadron.

However there is a problem on my A4000. The second button doesn't work, as our dude tbtorro said, but pressing it freezes the A4000 keyboard: the Caps Lock turns lit as soon as i press the button and no more key respondsn, even the three finger reset. I need to shut down the computer from the power switch to have it working again. Seems like a MSX specific thing.

Tbtorro, what computer did you test this on?

Glad u got the joystick OK - thanks for the glowing review of the unit.

It might be an idea to PM 'snoozy' (see earlier in this thread).
He said "I got my dad to mod the joystick to make both buttons work - took him 10 mins."

1. Identify the common wire linking the two buttons, this wire to remain connected to both buttons
2. Desolder and insulate the other wire from the second button, this wire is no longer used
3. Connect a new wire link between the two buttons - i.e. from the non-common terminal on the first button (which now has two wires connected to this terminal) to the now-vacant terminal on the second button.
