One for the C64 users.
In amongst my C64 stuff tonight I found a black Commodore cartridge with a red push button (no surprises there then).
I plugged it into my C64 and got the message "Quick Disk Plus (c) Softcell 1985" on the main blue screen under the Commodore V2 Basic message.
My question is; what exactly does it do (some sort of disk fast loader?) and where can I find a manual for it?

Softcell made them in conjunction with Evesham Micros back in 1980's but thats the only info I've discovered so far
I think afterwards they introduced the Freeze Machine and Freeze Frame cartridges so you might definitely have a rarity there as I can not find any other info on it
I've asked over at Lemon 64 to see if they can help me.

No, but I may do some more investigating tomorrow.
Edit: I can get the screw out of the body of the cartridge, but the case won't split and I don't want to risk damaging it if it's the "R" word (sorry SdG!)
It's a black cartridge with a red push-to-make button at top left of the case. There's no label on the case and the message only shows up at power on; if I reset the C64 with it plugged in the Quick Disk Plus message disappears.
A quick update...
The Quick Disc + appears to have surfaced in December 1985, as far as I can make out from trawling C64 magazines such as ZZap! 64.
I came across this ad from Evesham Micros in the December '85 edition...

If I could get the damned thing open, I could try to work out what makes it tick and maybe figure out if we could dump the program inside it.
There are four slots underneath and there must be clips inside, but I can't work out how they release and I'm not risking breaking it.
I found this cool version in red on an Australian e*ay site, however, mine is plain black with no labels. I've asked the seller if he has the manual for it.
I'm getting there; I've also asked Retroport.de if they have ever seen one of these cartridges.
If anyone has a C64 TOSEC set out there, could you please take a look to see if there is a ROM dump for this amongst the sets?

Did you try pushing the button?
If I push the red button, I get a reset to the main blue screen, but without the "Quick Disc Plus" message under the Commodore Basic V2 one.
It's as though it becomes invisible on a warm reset.
I thought I had mentioned this earlier in the thread....
The Aussie e*ay guy hasn't got a manual either...
