Chuffin Muffin! A2000 super duper bargain buy :D
So when my dads called around to my house the last few times he's been admiring the Commodore corner lol... and suggesting he should probably get one to tinker with.
I started looking out for a cheap big box Amiga for him and happened upon an A2000 just 30 minutes after it had been listed on the other bay. Pictures were not great but I could see from the back there was a card in the CPU Fast slot which looked promising. So being pretty sure it could have leaky battery syndrome and not wanting another A2000 myself as Im happy with mine I sent the guy [SNIP] a cash offer suitable for a bog basic box with a leaky battery and taking into account my costs for a four hour round trip to collect and asked a few hardware questions. He got back to me accepting, he had no more info on the hardware as he just used it for a three month project 22 years ago and its never been touched since.
So I arrive, he's a great bloke and we chat about what he used it for, he just wants rid as he's moving house. He then produces an old invoice for just under five grand and explains he only used it for three months.... "it was bought whilst working on a project for a subcontracted company doing some Lightwave and video stuff for a science fiction TV program". I'm getting quite excited at this point, Lightwave is not really 68000 software! He then says I can have the 17" multisync Samsung he used to test it.
So I get home... open the box and Hooooo leeee moo leeee jeeee ja wowa!! o_0!!!!!
- No leaky battery, motherboard is absolutely mint Rev6
- Picasso II video card
- Toccata 16bit sound card
- Dataflyer ram board with 6mb on-board
- A2300 Genlock
- VLab 7 Microsystems motion card
- SCSI CD Rom
- 15GB Quantum Trailblazer HD
- And a GVP GTECH 040 @ 40mhz with what appears to be 64mb RAM on board!!!
Attachment 70357
The whole machine is pristine.... just proper dusty lol, everything works perfectly, all the original disks are present, cd rom is surprisingly quick and the hd is lightening fast. Its suspiciously quiet on the PSU as well compared to mine.
I'm going to swap the bridgeboard into this box and my dads having my old machine lol!!!
Very happy!
