My New Saturn

Hi all, thought i'd show off my new Saturn.

I bought this console last week via the other bay. I had some spare time last night so thought i'd mod it a little.

It is the "This is Cool" Skeleton Saturn and came with one matching controller (i already had one skeleton controller) and a stepdown converter.

It was originally a Japanese 110v machine and i didn't want to use a stepdown every time i wanted to play so i cannibalized a PAL Saturn for its 240v PSU.

Using a hairdryer i was also able to heat the label from the PAL Saturn and transfer it to the new case showing that it now runs at 240v.

While i had the machine open i thought i might as well go ahead and switchless mod it and install my modchip.

The only downside to this was that i had to remove the warranty sticker (although i like the fact that nobody has played around with it).

The "skeleton" models are the ones that can't run a particular Sega Ages release (Space Harrier, if memory serves), right? I wonder why that is...

I wasn't aware of problems with Sega Ages games but Space Harrier isn't a favourite of mine anyway. However should i experience issues the motherboard can be swapped out for a PAL model 2 so no big issue for me.

I wonder if they got another manufacturer to make the CD unit by this model? I know from experience that Conkers Reloaded seems to work with one of my Xbox's and not the other, and it turned out to be down to which model of DVD drive you have.

Actually, i forgot about that. The original cd unit that came with the skeleton machine would not work at all when my modchip was fitted so i swapped it out with the PAL one and that works fine.
