barrel size? I dont know what you mean as it is for my CD rom drive:)

Something like 3 - 3.2 mm (1 - 1.2 mm bore)
If the same as my external Bluray drive ?

I now use an external supply (2 Amp)
as the USB was under powered.

That's the problem fella - if people don't know the polarity or connector size it's hard to say if anyone has the right one.

As Fingerlickin said - magic smoke and all that.

Perhaps post some info about the drive?

alternatively it would be very easy to rig one up using a USB cable and a barrel yourself. I've done that a few times, it's a 5 minute job.

We don't know, as has already been said. You need to know the size of the barrel and the polarity before anyone can tell you.

hi.. what they are saying is..
you havent told us how fat the hole it plugs in to is.. (they come in diferent widths)
and you havent told us the polarity..
your dvd thing should hav a symbole like this..
- ----C---- + (that says that the out side of the connector is negative. and the inside is positive)

without knowing those 2 things we cant help..
its not the length of the cable. its how big of a hole it has to plug in to, and how fat the pin in the hole is.

(you can get them in all shapes and sizes. usb hubs use little ones. some phones use fatter ones.. generally anything that runs or can be charge from 5v can have one)
