question about kickrom

When I boot the A3000, it boot's from hd and it "upgrades" itself to 3.1.

The only way to run a game is to press mouse buttons choose load kick 1.3 (can only be from floppy kick disk not HD anyone any idea?)

Then it kicks to 1.3 and gives the proper screen, so I insert a few A500 area games and get mostly when they start:

can't load DEVS: INPUT.DEVICE file is not executable.

I figured it myself, the disks I am going through (not my disks) where from an amiga 500 with 2.X roms.

Booting with the 2.X rom or 3.X roms and those game run.

It would still be nice if somebody could point how to load the roms from HD and offering me 1.3 rom, 2.X rom (this works already from hd), 3.1, giving me a very compatible amiga, without that much delay..

Create a new partition under the 4Gb barrier called WB_13 and format it using only OFS (never use FFS, will not work).

Then, using the superkickstart disk and the WB2.0 install disk, copy the 1.3 ROM with bonus code to it. After copy the contents of both WB 1.3 disks to mentioned partition. Create a startup-sequence if you want.

"Installing" Workbench is pretty simple: in cli window type "copy DF0: WB_13: ALL CLONE QUIET". Swap to the second floppy disk and copy the contents of it too.

Done! :)

I am eager to try, but the machine is locked up (no multitasking) with the DENEB doing backups before play can begin.:thumbsup: I'll resist the temptation and do it tomorrow after complete system backup:thumbsup:

The machine just stopped the backups. The previous owner just created the partition, without doing something with it further.

The install workbench instruction is clear and tested, I should look how it is formatted to then.

What i don't get at all is how to get the kick disk on the "root" partition. The interface is not helpfull, the shell does not wan't cd name: nor copy... directory opus on that machine is some 5.x version that hides that floppy, and I don't like the looks...

so basically how to copy the disk to the workbench partition?

Do you know if we can do this for a 3.1 partition to? I am under the impression that the machine boots 2.X and reboots to 3.X (I have the superkickdisk)

ON Workbench 2.0 install disk is an utility to install the ROM image from the kickstart disk to the partition.

IIRC, "hidden" in the HD install script.

All you need to do fire up the installation process and choose the "upload kickstart" with the superkickstart disk in the floppy unit.

After the intensive testing and use with the deneb, the machine decided to part with the hard disk. It is sort of "software" died The hard disk still works and I have a backup if I don't figure. And other 50 pins units to.

I am digging through boxes of kickdisks and workbenches :blink: version kick bla bla not the right version :huh: bla bla ok the right version me not see hard disk etc :blink: Well learning amiga history, unable to afford that day a hard disk at all not to speak of an A3000.:nuts:

I am not having issues with scsi id nor termination this time :mad: (just to inform the scsi tech people) It's Id 6 and terminated workbench 3.1 hdtoobox knows all about it)

If anybody knows how to install the superkickstart 3.1 to hd please inform me. :) I manage to install workbench 3.1 but not to have it booted after HARD RESET. << I hope you still understand what that is. (I never heard it the last 10 years)

Again: using the install disk, click on "HD install". For the opened window choose "install kickstart" (or sort of words meaning the same).

Put the superkickstart disk in the floppy drive and that's it.

A3000: my new owner told me as soon has he get's paid he'll buy me cybergraphics 3D CARD. A turbo card is to expensive for me he sais. What a home, he shuffed a macro vlab in me roughly, a pc cooler slot type what a complete vandal:whistle:The deneb can stay perhaps if his boss pays him his miles:whistle:

Well due to curcomstances the graphic card has arrived but I still need to get it at post office. I've got a nasty flue bug once more:blink:

After some mailing at vesalia, amigakit, softhut, only the last two bothered to answer about a 3.1 rom for the A3000.

Amigakit very proff answer, vesalia no response, softhut asking about my config, rom tower or not revision, and has stock:)

So I'll keep these two in my mind..

Might as wel by another 040 amiga card I've sold a few months ago :whistle:I'd see no point in paying another 060 price, since the A4000 has one..

It is still unther "evaluation" where it ends, stock or active.. I just paid sothut for the roms..
