Can I close the hatch in my blizzard 1260 with one of these?

As I've never owned a 1260 I cannot claim with an absolute degree of certainty that you will be able to close the trapdoor after fitting one of the SIMM's.

Worst case scenario would be to run the a1200 with no trapdoor but gaining a bit more ventilation as a result :)

No, there is a 2 millimeter overhang and the SIMM must be kept in place either by a rubber (elastic) band or with the supplied zip (cable tie).

Nobody has experienced any problems with these SIMM's and I even use them myself (it's my own Blizzard Mk IV in the pics).

Im using an elastic band as the cable tie seemed too small. however the real problem is the blizzard sitting on the little plastic shelves/lips on the inside of the trapdoor. Shall I take a picture?

Does the SIMM have any room to move when secured with a rubber band? Judging by the pictures, the SIMM isn't resting tight against the 68030

PS the cable tie is long enough - with a SCSI fitted, you just have to re-orientate the cable tie to suit :)

@Wasagi, I suggest putting the A1200 on slightly bigger feet and of course you'll need to leave the trapdoor off.

I don't think you'll find any smaller 128mb Simms. I still suggest geting a SCSI kit and putting the 128mb on that and using a Slimline 64mb on the Blizzard.

What fitzsteve said are very valid points.

If you are afraid that the Blizzard might damage the connector whilst hanging in the air like that, you can apply a few drops of hot glue on the plastic lips and board internally to secure it - easy to remove for maintenance and easy to reaply with no damage to either case or board

Also, the SCSI kit holds the Blizzard in place as it clips in above the plastic lips :)

And its a great way of setting up an external CDROM :cool:

Tried it with the cable tie as tight as can be against the 030. No joy, it still sticks a very long way out. I think maybe if I filed down the plastic edges on the inside of the case it would be possible to fit it in there, but thats something i'm not prepared to do. I'll work on some bigger feet (it's on books atm!). Bit disappointed it wouldnt fit with the trapdoor, but oh well!

No problem for the help and advice, I wouldd't go filing anything though they are are there to keep the card straight.

As I said over at EAB you'll only be able to close the trapdoor with a 64mn Simm.

Slightly bigger feet and you'll be fine and that Bliz will get plenty of fresh air :)
