Hard Disk problem

Hi all, I was asked today to take a look at a dell laptop that apparently won't boot.

I switched it on and sure enough it threw up and error regarding hard disk 0.

Into the bios and hdd is not listed.

So I turn the machine off and proceed to check the hard disk is properly inserted.

This is what I was presented with.

Yes the disk has no top and is covered in fingerprints.

I just asked him what happened and was told

"the computer was making a rattling noise so I had a look. Now it doesn't work"

BTW, what sort of devilry is that HD connector??!!

Its a Dell adapter from either sata or IDE

Ah yeah - laptop. I don't enjoy laptop support... :(

As supaduper said its a dell adapter for an ide drive.

Did you try giving is a good wipe down with some Mr Sheen ....... if that doesn't work try some Jif
