Nomad LCD mod for Dougal

Hi all, so Dougal contacted me saying he had a Nomad and wanted the LCD replacing.

So I received the nomad and new screen today and here is the result.

First up enabling the master system mode

Requires attaching a wire from pin 45 of the ASIC to B30 of the cartridge connector.

Lastly he wanted to retain the buttons to control the lcd's brightness etc

This was quite easy as the buttons were mounted on a small pcb so I just had to drill 3 holes, hot glue the board in place and plug it back into the lcd controller board.

Getting the LCD can sometimes be a hit and miss. I had previously bought another LCD, which looked exactly the same from the other bay but when I hooked up the Nomad to it using an AV cable the colors were very dull and the image was rolling. Second time lucky with this one.

Nice job, that could also be a good LCD for the Game Gear. I've been keeping an eye out for a suitable screen to replace mine for a while.

I've been wanting to try a screen mod on a GG for a while too but the GG doesn't have video out so I believe you'd need one of Tim's GGTV boards too.

The problem with the GGTV boards is that whilst Master System games (using converter) will look good on the screen, the GG games will look very small taking maybe 60-70% of the screen only.

Any link to the screen you bought please?
